I know never to go through a "brushless" car wash were contact is made with your car. However, does anyone have any objections to the pull up automatic spray wash. Because of time sake, I have used these and dryed my car with detail spray with some success between more complete wash/wax. Any comments appreciated.
I've used these in a pinch when I'm driving long distances, and I get someplace and want to get the bugs and assorted road grime off the car. I've never had any trouble with it damaging or otherwise harming the finish on the car.
It is true in Santa Fe, NM for sure. But water is a limited resource here. But ask you provider. Most I've run across do the same. If you have a well pampered, waxed, cared for car than an occasional use is not harmful. But as a regular wash it is pretty suspect if the water isn't clean.
Commercial carwash places use reclaimed water are very common these days, not only in NM. However, they do process their water prior to use for obvious reasons. It is not a rocket science to turn wasted water into the purest Type I water at all.
God forbid, I am not saying that your folks should subject your Cayman through theses carwash places. Based on what I have learned on this board, Porsche has the softest paint finishes. Folks are afraid to drive faster than 120 mph just to avoid getting nanoscratches on their Cayman. :P
The car wash owners here are a long way from rocket science. They are pretty scary looking affairs but they have a corner on the market since it is not legal to wash cars privately most of the time in the city and the city mandates re-use of the car wash water but doesn't put any restraints on its quaility. Which is another reason to live in the country..
I only ever use the rinse function of my local one. [ not recycled water] Great for removing bugs & flushing out brake dust from inside of the wheels. If there is no hard dirt collected on the body & your have a good wax job, most, everything will rinse off. Blow dry it on the way home & finish the detailing.

Note to self. Skip NM. It is lawless there. Just wonder what condition of their drinking water serves in the restaurants.

Yup! These places were very helpful. Remember my friend that puked in my car? He had some of his stuff on the passenger door and I couldn't get everything off so I ran the car through a touchless spray wash. Cleaned the outside nicely then took it to the detail shop to get the inside done.

I fell sorry for your Cayman. You should use Type I water. If you are short on $$, at least you should use Type II water for your Cayman.
Someone from PCA should seize his Cayman for abusing his Cayman please.
