My Wife Thinks I'm a Nut!

My wife thinks I’m a nut and it’s your fault. She came home and found the Cayman jacked up. One of the wheels was off and I was busy waxing the inside of the wheel. She just shook her head and walked into the house.

I learned that from you folks. I have been detailing my cars for 40 years and this is the first time that I have bothered to take my wheels off.

They look good! Thanks.

My entire family thinks I'm nuts. Last incident had to do with polishing the exhaust underneath the car with cape cod metal polish. Looks great!
I tell them it's cheaper than therapy.

That's hilarious!!!! I'd never heard of that either until this website. It's on my list of things to do and I'm sure my wife will give me the same reaction.

My wife couldn't believe it either. It was a running joke around our house for a couple of weeks. I told her I was going to polish the shocks next. One of my neighbors walked by, shook her head and said "That's love."

The spouse may not understand but the members of Cayman Club do.

My everyday vehicle stays dirty all the time and it really doesn't bother me but it drives my wife crazy. Last weekend we took the Cayman out and someone ran threw some water in front in me so a mist sprayed on us and I went crazy and the wife just shook her head.

DHL just delivered my wheel wax today so I guess you could say that I have arrived at the nut house in a full skid

My wife's reaction was exactly the same! I told here the wheels looked a lot better with the wax. She just shook her head and walked inside.

Do we "Wheel Nuts!" need a support group? I'm current on my meds.

Ole Joe

I prefer the family thinking I'm nuts, less questions that way. And they leave me to my detailing in peace.

Wink

EVERYONE in my family thinks I'm pretty nuts too... spend loads of time driving my CS, usually to nowhere special, cleaning it and waxing the wheels, just love that. Have carrera classics though so haven't had to take them off yet. I've even carefully positioned 4 pieces of carpet squares so my tires have somewhere soft to rest on rather than bare, cold concrete The carpet scraps each have hash marks on the concrete so that I can re-position them if necessay--seeing that drew a set of rolling eyeballs one afternoon from my teenage daughter. Cleaning and looking at my CS has replaced yardwork as a quiet, peaceful refuge....

I made sure my wife was out of town before I waxed my wheels. Just did not want to face the ridicule...
Now my buddy that has an Aston wants to come over and do his wheels. Its great - now my wife will think that at least there is one person more nuts about their car than I am. Ha!

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Red face

My wife thinks I am nuts too , when I bought out all the micro fiber towels from 6 Target stores. I have 24 "yellow" ones for drying and polishing the top and sides and 16 "gray" ones for the bottom of the Cayman where it usually get more dirt and grit on the "yellow" ones. I also have a boatload of "disposable" towels that get only used once on the wheels. I do not want to risk scratching up the wheel. I have a big cabinet dedicated to my Caymans towels and sheep skin hand washers (10) in the garage and I strictly forbid her to use any of my towels to clean her Bimmer.

I don't understand what all the fuss is about! WHeel waxing, quiet moments with microfiber towels and metallic paint. WHo could have a problem with that?

Just kidding. I'm in the same boat - with a very understanding wife.
