I have ordered an 08' Cayman S - due to arrive Nov. 12th. In anticipation I have read through several of the threads including the various opinions about break-in. I did some research and through a race engine article learned of a couple products from American Clean Energy Systems. The two relevant products are their gasoline catalyst (upper cylinder fuel additive) and their oil catalyst. From the literature both of these products sound incredible and like they have potential to ensure an ideal break-in process as well as continuing to maintain a perfectly running engine (they are also supposed to increase HP and torque along with raising the effective octane level of the fuel by 7+/- points). I personally think that anything like this is "snake oil". If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Although it sounds interesting if it were me, I would stick to what Porsche says and follow their recommendations. After all, I think Porsche knows their cars. But again, that's just me.

If this stuff was really that good, the car manufacturers would be using it. They expend a lot of effort every year trying to meet government and customer expectations for fuel economy and power, and would jump all over it if some can of "wonder goo" could do the job for them.

Let's see. It's a catalyst. Means it changes what's flowing by it without changing itself. Oh wait, but it burns up and provides additional lubricity. So it's not a catalyst. If they can't even name it correctly, what makes you think it will do what they say?

As someone said, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

What disapoints is that Carrol Shelby is touting one on TV lately. (Although haven't noticed the ads in the last couple of weeks; maybe it was pointed out to him that he was damaging his own good, and valuable name)
