Interior vinyl care ??

The basic interior is pretty full of vinyl (generic term, sorry), mine is the basic black. But, it seems a bit "dry". I saw other threads saying just wask with mild soap/water, no Armor All. My questions are.. will the basic material weather well? I've put Wheel Wax's basic black on the tires, but its label suggests it is also intended for vinyl. Has anyone used that product (or others) for the interior?

I would definitely not use any type of Armorall type dressing on the interior. i made this mistake with a previous BMW. The shiny stuff looked good but was a dirt magnet and a bitch to remove. I am presently using Griots interior wipes followed by Griots vinyl and rubber dressing. It is Ok and seems to provide protection without attracting lots of dirt. There may be something better out there but this has been a good starting point.

Apparently some (probably many) use Vinylex, by Lexol. It leaves a simi-gloss shine and offers sun protection. If you don't like a any gloss reflecting off the top of the dash, try Tuff Stuff, a multi-purpose foam cleaner that works very well on vinyl and leaves a flat finish. While Tuff Stuff doesn't claim to provide sun protection, I used it on a 911 RSA dash for 8 years without the slightest hint of any sun damage.

I ordered something called Einzett cockpit premium.. havent tried it yet but heres what the bottle reads:

"Interior cleaner and protectant for vinyl, plastic, and rubber components. With oil-free, factory matte finish that prevents fading."

carecareonline.com has good articles on car care.

You have to select the vinyl cleaner/protectant carefully or it might make the dash more easy to crack.

I have been happy with Meguires vinyl cleaner. I have also used the generic BMW one that doesnt have residue.

Most speak well of Lexol but I thought it was too shiny.

Hope that helps

No one mentioned anything from the dealer ! Either because it would be outragously expensive or.. other stuff works better...

so far the collective wisdom is to try some of the after market stuff, but likely to try it in an inconspicious place to see if it picks up dirt, is easy or difficult to clean up, etc. ??
right??
Thanks for all the posts... anything else??

I use a damp rag on the vinyl. I use Lexol on the leather.

I would recommend 303 Aerospace or Klasse for plastics and vinyl.

My guess (and it is only a guess) is that the dealer is selling a product made by P21S with a Porsche label.

Mercedes used to give you a bucket of Mercedes branded cleaning supplies. The supplies were made by Meguiar's.

303 Aerospace protectant: +1 !!

Especially good on black plastic, rubber, vinyl, etc. No glossy shine or oily residue at all.
