Cool Water and Electricity!

Just curious and perhaps slightly concerned! Just washed my car and noticed that there is a pool of water in the battery tray. I understand this to be normal as the water is supposed to drain away. Still looking around the battery area pretty much everything is wet including the wiring loom. This can't be good, can it?

I can see that all the exits in and out of that compartment seem to be sealed but still I don't like the idea that the cabling gets wet like this.

Has anyone modified this area to help keep things dry? Just wondering what you'all may think to this.

Rob

Do you mean that you removed the cover from the battery access area and found water?

Every time I wash my car, I then open everything for drying. And I haven't even seen water on that cover - only around the seal area of the hood and on the hood edges.

Water and electricity are usually a bad combo. But we are talking about low voltage here. Nothing to worry about. However, I would suspect that there is a drain for that area that will funnel water to the ground. Make sure there are no leaves or anything else blocking the drains.

Yep, lifted the large central plastic cover above the battery. Water everywhere! I was told by my dealer that this is as expected. Are you implying that its not?

If the dealer says it's OK, then it probably is. I haven't any experience with this yet.
