window cleaning in a pinch

So I am driving to a meet a customer out in the middle nowhere when I run through a construction zone. My perfectly clean windshield is covered with oil, paving residue, mud and dirt. To top it off it starts raining for like 30 seconds then stops. The windshield is completely trashed- so bad that I can barely see out. I stop at the next town and buy a roll of paper towels and a botte of windex. What a mistake. This served only to smear the mess all over the windshield and make matters worse. I had to stop 3 times after it got dark and try again. What a blinding mess. What do you guys carry for on the spot window clean ups? Are any of the Griot's or other portable wipes any good?Would I have been better off buying a jar of vinegar and a dish towel? Normally I only clean my windows at home where my detail stuff is stored.

I use Spray n Wipe on both the body and windows. It's main purpose is a waterless wash, so great for quick paint cleanup of light debris, but also works really well on windows, even causing the rain to bead a little bit
