I'm looking for a car cover for my 2007 Cayman. Currently, I store it at a parking garage, it is covered but I worry about moisture etc. Any recommendations on specific manufacturers and also if I should get an outdoor cover or indoor cover given that it is a general parking garage.
I have a California Car Cover which fits like a glove, but in all honesty I haven't seen a lot of other covers so I couldn't compare it to the other options. I have seen a few photo's on the site with people who bought the Porsche cover, maybe they'll chime in.
My wife gives me **** cos I have the car in the garage with the cover on.
I'm using the OEM Porsche outdoor cover (dealer threw it in) now while waiting for my WeatherShield cover from CoverCraft to be delivered.
The OEM one is very tight and doesn't fit the rear bumper right due to the bumper guards we have in the US. Plus the thing has zippers(!) on it! A big no no for scratch potential.
So for now I have microfiber towels under the zippered areas and I'm anxiously waiting for the other cover to arrive.
I'm on my second cali car cover. Had one for the last car and now one for this. Paid 300 for it, which includes shipping costs. Its very light weight and water resistant. Its designed more for outdoor use. Give them a call and explain your situation, where its going to be parked, etc and they'll give you a recommendation.

Cayman S - a portable amusement park
I having been looking for an outdoor cover for my 2008 Cayman. I live in Arizona so i need a cover that can help with protecting the car from the UV rays during the day while i am at work since there is no parking garage available where i work. I bought a Porsche OEM car cover but i was not very impressed with it. The material was very thin, almost like a material for an umbrella. It had a few defects so i am sending it back an getting my money back. I starting reading numerous threads this evening on recommendations. Thanks Santa-Fe for the link in the above reply!! It helped me alot. The one question is do have is do any of the car covers come with a real soft liner? My OEM says it has a soft liner but the cover looked like the same material on both side. Are all car covers made of the lightweight umbrella looking fabric? I have no experience on car covers and nobody that i know has one one. Any help or comments is greatly appreciated.
The cali car covers I've owned can be described like the material you've mentioned. I've never had a lined one personally. I had a heavy noah cover from bmw once and hated it. Personally, I like the lightweight ones I've had recently. I'm no expert, but I'd think a lightweight one would be better and probably breathe better.

One thing I can say for the Porsche cover is that once it's tugged, zipped and the drawstrings pulled it will very likely stay on outside in the wind. That's one issue I've had with other covers. Other then that it is a real PITA.
The last cover I had was made of Kimberly-Clark Evolution 4 fabric. It wasn't lined but was fairly thick. This one was probably a little better for ding resistance. I think Calif Car Cover still makes this. While this one fit well it could blow off.
Anyone have input / experiences with flannel car covers? I understand flannel is the best choice for indoor storage as it is super soft and will not leave swirl marks in the paint .

I bought a $100 cover from Pep Boys (actually my wife bought it). I was skeptical at first, but after using it for a couple of months I can’t honestly see how it’s $200 inferior to the many other more expensive covers on the market. It’s lined and it’s essentially waterproof and fits the Cayman almost perfectly. It was originally a stop gap purchase, but I don’t have any plans to upgrade after seeing how well it works. YMMV.

YMMV but I found that instead of dust flannel leaves lint. Washing and endless time in the dryer did not help.
