Zaino

I had a Zaino kit sitting in my garage for a couple of years. Bought it back in my Corvette days. The Corvette folks swear by it.

Finally took the plunge and put my Cayman through the Zaino process - wash / clay bar / prep wax / high gloss application / prep wax / high gloss / show wax. Results are amazing. The finest optical clarity and gloss I've ever seen. It lives up to the reputation.

I've attached a couple of pics taken in cloudy weather - you can see the clouds in the reflection.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

Doesn't zaino have a shelf-life? I have a old kit but think its out of date.

I saw somewhere the shelf life is 3 years and mine was about that old - but mine was just fine with the usual shaking...

What temperature do you keep it at? I've been using Zaino for about 6 years now. It loses a lot of its benefits if you leave stored it in a cold garage for more than a few months.

Most Zaino folk seem to think that it's good for 18-24 months at room temp.

Wow, great results. What do you mean by prep wax / high gloss application / prep wax / high gloss / show wax? The Zaino kit I have has numbers like Z2, Z5, etc.

My kit was stored in the garage in the original box / packaging for what would be 3 years next month in Houston, TX. Wow, if it lost some of its benefits I'd like to see what a fresh batch would do!!

Yeah you're right with the numbered system - just follow the directions. That's what I did.

Your car looks spectacular but I promise you that you'll get better results if it's fresh, and if you use ZFX with it.

The thing I love about Zaino and the main reason I use it is that I'm lazy... I can apply 3 layers, and it'll last 3-6 months... can't get those results with any carnauba wax, regardless of what anyone says. (you can actually apply 13-15 layers of zaino before you must clay bar and start over again)

It can't shine as good as some carnauba's, but the durability is awesome.

Some have had great success layering a carnauba between Zaino, giving extra shine with Zaino's durability. The only thing I never did like about Zaino was waiting for it to set up before you could buff it off...

Exactly what is zaino? Is it a wax? A polymer? An acrylic?

Collinite is well known for its durability. I carry their most popular waxes, 845 insulator wax, 476s super double coat and 915 marque d'elegance. The info on each is below, along with the links for them. I've seen countless posts on collinite lasting 5-6 months. I've been using 845 and 476 for years. I only recently starting using 915 and its sorta a toss up for me now on whether to apply 915 or 476. I tend to use 845 on my white truck and the others on my darker vehicles. Thats just a personal preference though.

845 Insulator Wax
845 Insulator Wax

14.99
This heavy duty liquid wax was originally developed for use by electric power companies for protection against high voltage power failure, fires and explosions. It's primary use is on the finishes of automobiles, trucks, buses and airplanes where durability, high gloss and lasting protection are paramount. An excellent choice for fleet applications and very easy to use--requires minimum rubbing or buffing. Clear coat safe.

476 Super DoubleCoat Auto Wax
476s Super DoubleCoat Auto Wax

14.99
One of the finest paste type auto waxes available. Easy to apply and absolutely DETERGENT PROOF. Collinite Super Doublecoat is guaranteed to outlast and outshine any other competitive auto wax, polish or protective coating under any conceivable condition. That's why it's called the PERMANENT AUTO WAX. No hard rubbing or buffing... and no special applicator is required. Collinite Super Doublecoat will last a full year, even under adverse conditions. Clear coat safe.

915 Marque D'Elegance
915 Marque D'Elegance

29.99
For the BEST in wax endurance, Marque d'Elegance is the product to have. Car enthusiasts demand a wax that is proven to protect in the most demanding environments, rain or shine, on track or on the street. They have discovered that Collinite Marque d'Elegance gives their valuable automotive investments a blinding, lasting shine because its formulated from the highest-ever concentration of pure Carnauba waxes. And no abrasives means all Collinite waxes are absolutely clear coat safe. It doesn't get any better!

Heres a couple links so you can see what the products look like on a vehicle.

Here is 845. I thought this turned out looking soo wet. loved it.
Another detail; silver is250

Heres 476 on a blk car:
Just want to post up a few jobs that I've done

I should mention too, if you REALLY want a durable setup. Do a base coat of OptiSeal, which is a wipe on - walk away product. (requires no buffing of residue, it simply evaporates). Then wait a day or so and top that with a collinite wax. You'll get protection for a loooong time
Opti-Seal
