Anyone have a suggestion as to where a car cover can be found a resonable price. I would prefer a oem cover or a good after market version that is fitted to the car (nice and snug). thank for any help.
I suggest searching the site for other member's opinions and purchase experiences. I did and learned alot about car cover materials, construction methods and companies.
I'm happy with my Noah cover from California Car Cover. It's holding up well as a 100% outdoor cover and offers good protection from rain, dust, overnight condensation, etc. Even after the recent storms in northern CA, my CS looked no worse for wear.
Look at the bottom of this post and you'll see all the related car cover threads.
I would stay away from the OEM outdoor cover. It has a big zipper down one side and zippers and paint don't mix!

Years ago I had a friend of my who owned a high end detail shop that car covers were bad on the paint. He said that they tend to flap around under the very conditions you want to protect against (wind and dirt), and that they trap the dust and dirt between the cover and the paint and cause hairline scratches.
While I have no proof of this claim, it makes sense to me

Just sold my beautiful CS, now the fun begins as I look for its open top replacement...
I have a Noah car cover, fits well but when I left it on the car for a bout a week the rear bumperettes got scuffed up a bit. I assume do to the wind. Just make sure the car is clean and the cover is clean.

Interesting... My Noah cover from Cali Car Cover is constructed using a custom pattern for the CS. It fits snug from front to back, around the bumpers and along the side of the car. The elastic hem grips tightly under the front and rear bumpers. I've not noticed any flapping from extra material.
As a precaution to the scuffing you mention, I keep an extra layer of wax on the tightest car-cover contact points.
This winter I've been using a WeatherShield HD (also from CoverCraft) and it hasn't caused any scuffing at all -- and there's been some serious wind too. The fabric is coated and/or impregnated with Teflon. It's so slippery that while putting it on it tends to slide, at an eerily slow pace, right off the roof (this is not a feature..). It's hard to imagine it scuffing anything. Cost me around $250 IIRC -- they're custom fit, and are snug and secure.
I was wondering if you put the car cover on immediately after driiving--is the tail pipe hot and would burn the cover??
Yes, the tailpipe is very hot, and can burn the cover - so put it on, but keep it away from the tailpipe tip - watch your legs when you're getting stuff out of the rear hatch, too.
