Just Got ClearBra by Premier

On Wed, drove down to Fremont around 10:15AM to give the new 2.7 a clearbra by Premier. I know they have a great rep and I just wanted to post my experience for those considering it. I haven't driven my new 2.7 since driving back from LA out of this extreme fear I have for trucks spitting up asteroid size chunks of dirt, gravel.... and scratching up the car. So off I went to Premier simply based on the reviews from this site.

When I got there, there was a professional outside detailer starting to detail a beautiful silver Carrera GT. The boys from Premier were working on a couple of M series sedans, a Corvette, a nice Acura white NSX. I met Chris who told me about their process and asked me what I had wanted covered. Of course, price was discussed! Because I'm going to use the car as a frequent, but not daily, commuter vehicle along I80 (lots of trucks), I got the standard kit + full hood + full front fenders + rear wheel arches. For those of you considering the clearbra, don't overlook this area because you can easily see all the stuff your own rear tires kick up. The risk(price)/benefit ratio is well worth it, IMHO.

They started around 10:30AM, cleaned and detailed the car and then began the process. They took off the foglamp spears to cover it, took out the headlights so they could get a proper seal around the headlight areas, and the bra goes around the edges of the hood. Their waiting area is nice but a tad warm. The satellite TV was great as well as the wireless connection. So I was surfing the net all day (on this site, of course) while catching up on the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Penguins-Flyers were being rebroadcast. (Can't stand the Flyers btw and I love how Crosby/Malkin/Hossa are shredding them) Of course, they don't want you in their working areas out of liability issues, but you can walk around to the garage entrance and see what they're doing. Their garage/work area is impeccably clean, which I'm sure many of the Cayman owners will appreciate and respect.

They're located close to some strip malls, so I walked to lunch at In-N-Out and browsed around Costco before coming back. They continued to work through the afternoon and other cars were being brought in, including an orange Lambo, a Ferrari, a Mercedes. I looked at their results on other cars and it's really impressive. So the afternoon continued and I was trying to buy the tire/road hazard insurance after reading about it extensively on this site. But many phone calls and unanswered emails to dealers produced zilch. Not even Casey@Tischer could help. Major bummers!

Around 7pm, they brought the car out and she was just absolutely gorgeous. I scrutinized it and brought my eye to within 3 inches of the surface. It is VERY VERY difficult to make out the line on the half hood (by looking at other cars) unless you stare at it and are looking for it. On the full hood and fenders, I couldn't tell the film was there at all. The finish and attention to detail was simply impeccible and amazing. The fit to the front fenders is absolutely beautiful. The bra hugged the curves beautifully. I was truly blown away! Afterwards, we went in and the bill was paid. It was $2000. Ouch! Note- They are expensive, I think more so than the others (based on the prices listed and the areas covered) but they are WELL WORTH IT! When I left, it was almost 8pm, and ALL of them were still there working on the Carrera GT, M series sedans and a couple of others. They "close" at 6pm. Chris said they'd probably be there 'till around 11pm working on that Carrera. They didn't just clock out at 6pm!

I think anyone who is thinking about having their car covered by Premier should go ahead and have it done. It's one of the best investments you'll ever make for your Cayman. I know I rambled quite a bit, but oh well.....

In the end, I was really impressed by their friendly but no-nonsense approach. They are straight up, easy to deal with, patient, answer all questions directly, VERY professional and I didn't get the "I'm being worked over by a salesguy" type of feeling many of us felt with the autosalesmen (no offense to those who are on this site). I loved their sense of quiet pride about their work. They're good at what they do. It shows by their backlog of appointments and the number of high end cars that are brought in. Again, it's one of the best investments you'll ever make for the Cayman.

If you go:
1) They have a contract with Hertz so you can rent a car for about $25-ish for the day so you don't have to be stuck there.

2) If you do hang out there for the day, there are plenty of eateries within walking distance, but you should bring your own drinks. They don't have liquid refreshments or a fridge available in the waiting area.

3) They will clean the car before applying the clearbra, so you don't have to wash the car, unless you want to.....

4) They will want you to come back in 30 days so they can clean it, inspect it, and tidy up any areas that might need touching up.

5) They asked me to keep the car covered in a garaged area (out of the sun, esp noon sun) for about a week to help the bra "settle in". Of course, I'd do anything for bras, but usu not to help keep them on....

Thanks for the detailed report!

When you say standard kit, do you mean there were some pieces that were pre-cut by machine or was the whole job a custom cut?

I ended up doing my side-sill and replacing the OEM rock guard right before the intake grill with a piece that covered the whole area. You do have the draw the line at one point. What's next, getting the whole car covered? I'll save that for the GT3 that I'm dreaming about.

Kinda Puzzled As Well, Half Hood Is Mentioned Then Full Hood And Fenders, When A Full Hood Is Requested, Do They Install A Laser Cut Half Then Finish The Rest By Custom Fitting? I Would Have Thought It Would Be One Piece For The Hood So There Are No Lines Possible, Wondering....

Standard kit only covers the first 18" or so of the hood. I also had the full hood treatment done with Premier and it's a single custom cut piece so there's no seem.

I second all the raves given to Premier for their workmanship and amazing attention to detail. For my CS, they started around 10AM and finished around 6PM...and I don't recall seeing them take a break the entire time! It's now almost 5 months since the install, and it looks fabulous!

Lightbulb Confirming my thoughts

The ClearBra has done wonders for the 2007 911 Turbo one of us drives. Car is Cobalt Blue and cover is invisible unless you are within 6 inches of the surface. It did not work as well on the white Carrera S he had in 2006 - it turned a bit off-white.

So, I am definitely planning on this kit for my new baby. It will be driving Houston's notorious highways for years to come, and deflecting flying gravel is worth the cost.

Wish I'd had it done to the 2001 Volvo S60 T5 which is being replaced!

I had mine done in March (Meteor Grey CS). Standard kit + full hood. Outstanding job by dedicated pros. I highly recommend Premier. They are the best, bar none.

Sorry about the confusion. The standard is a precut half-hood. I opted for the standard + full hood which is about $800 more and then had the full fenders done on top of that. So it's 2 additions on top of the standard pre-cut half-hood kit. Plus the 2 rear wheel wells. Hope that clarifies things a tad!
