interior disinfectant/cleaner

Hi, my friend stepped in some sewage water, and got in my car, and now the inside of the car smells. What disinfectant/cleaners have you guys used to clean the carpet of Caymans?

What kind of 'Friend' steps in '$hit' and then smears it all over your car....?

He needs a good slapping - followed by the bill for the professional cleaning.

My wife dropped a cup of coffee in her Mercedes. The coffee made brown stains on the tan mats and tan carpet. I tried everything I could think of to get the stain out but nothing worked. So in desperation I tried Oxyclean Automotive Carpet Cleaner. I treated the stained area and the stain was still there but when I came back several hours later the stain was gone.

A friend dropped a whole 24 oz. strawberry milkshake in the floorboard on an Audi that I had. Talk about something that smelled bad after a few days . . . Olyclean took care of that smell as well.

I always thought Oxyclean was a gimmick because it is sold on infomercials but it actually worked.

You might want to try the cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area first to see what it does to your carpet.

i'd put the infected carpet in a large POT and bring to a slow boil and simmer over night, then for good measure, I'd give that friend a good hit with a bat and also bring him to a slow boil and simmer in the same POT.

303 Products - Aerospace Protectant, High Tech Fabric Guard -* World's Leading Automotive Care Products

For $5 you can get 8oz samples of their popular products, but it's hands down the best car interior product I've used, because it has no soap properties, it's a colloidal cleaner with a pH almost the same as water. It also leaves no odor or residue.

If you're looking for something over hte counter, I've had good luck with prestone carpet cleaner (in a red can).

As suneet mentioned, the 303 lineup is very nice. I also tend to lay down a little fabric protection after cleaning to make future events easier
303 Products
When cleaning, I'd work them in with a carpet/uphostery brush and wipe w/ a mf towel.

Prochem is a little more industrial, but they have a wide aray of cleaning products that you can order directly from them. Only downside is that some only come in large sizes.

Did this just get on the floor mat? That could make life much easier for you if so!

If its available to you, you can make a homemade carpet extractor with a shop vac and a little hot water. Pretreat your stain, grab some hot water in an empty spray bottle and hit it with that, and suck up w/ the shop vac. It can help to break down the gunk in your carpets. YOu can also see if anyone in your area has a real one to do the job. They're really good at getting dirt from deep down. If you're in nj, I have one here.
