Clean or replace the clear film on the side of car?

Hi.

I own a white Boxster and with time the clear film on the side of the car has been getting a yellowish color? Is there any way to restore back to the original form, or do I have to replace it? If I have to replace it, where can I buy it, and how do I uninstall the original one?

This is so you can see what I'm talking about if I haven't been clear enough.

Thanks in advanced.

Alex

Try Meguiar's PlasX - it's a plastic polish and might work.

I've seen a place on the web that sells direct replacements for this piece but can't seem to find it now. Do a search on this site and you might get it, otherwise I'm sure the dealer can get this piece.

To remove the covering, just peal it off.

What I did was to have mine completely replaced when I had film done on the side sills.

this is natural for the factory pieces as they are thicker and of lower quality. You should have it replaced from a local intstaller

Are you running your car on a daily basis without the film? If so, are you experiencing excess accumulation of debris in that area or any negative side effects?

I'm not sure if I'll just take it off or replace it at the dealership, I guess it all depends on how much they want to charge me!

Thanks to all.

Actually, I'd like to replace those clear pieces with flat black. Has anyone scene/done this before?

Any tips on how to remove the film strip? Do I need to heat it or spray any type of product to make things easier? I've never tried anything like this and I don't want to end up with half of the sticker in my hands and a mess on the car.
