Wet passenger side carpet / floormats - WHats going on?

Today I went to the car wash and when the guy took out my floor mat to vacuum inside, he alerted me of the wet floor mat. I was surprised because I knew that I didn't spill anything.

I touched the fluid and it smelled and had the consistency of water.

When I got home I dug around under the passenger side dash and I think I isolated a little hose that "could be" a overflow hose of some sort.

My question is what could this be and would Porsche really send access fluid into the driver cabin?

Note: The temp today is about 85F and I was running the air for most of the day. I was driving the car around town and didn't notice anything different.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

If you wash the car yourself you will notice lots of water around the door jams. If you use a high pressure wash (like an auto car wash) it will force water into the cockpit. Don't is the first line of defense.

This was before the car wash and no water got on the car before it was mentioned to me.

The hose was above (under the lining) where the passengers feet are normally. Imagine its about the area behind the glove compartment.

Just tried to locate something in my car and cannot find a likely culprit. Maybe someone else can. The humidity is so low here ( 8% ) that it would probably dry before hitting the carpet anyway. Let us know.

Hello Hosterman001,

Some time ago another member posted a similar concern (leak in passenger foot-well) as yours. I had the same problem and it actually proved to be a leak where the cabin fresh-air filter penetrates the fire-wall due to an improperly installed gasket at the factory.

The best way to identify if your car has the same problem is to do the following:
1) Park your car on an incline with the nose "high" (this step is not absolutely necessary but it brings the problem to light quicker).
2) Place a towel in the passengers foot-well (in case the test is affirmative).
3) With your garden-hose on low flow, direct a steady stream of water under the cabin fresh-air filter housing.
4) If you find water dripping in the interior, contact me and I'll give you the instructions on how to stop the water (and outside unfiltered air and noise) leak.

Regards,
Joe

I will give that a try, but I dont think thats it... The reason I feel this is becasue The car wash does a handwash and uses a hose to spray the car.

Also, if you can, please post the remedy now ... maybe someone else has the same problem. if I dont get it resolved tomorrow, I will likely take it to the dealer and have them look at it.

Other leak sources

Two other places to check (and it might have to be your technician/mechanic who does it): bottom edge of windshield if gasket/seal is loose; A/C evaporator coil/condensation tray. If it is only the passenger side, the A/C is the more likely culprit - make sure the drain hole and tube are not plugged.

Suffered through both on my 2001 Volvo; service folks fortunately did an outstanding job cleaning/drying/mold remediation. And the car's rust-proofing was a savior.

+1 on that. Happened in my A6. Drain got plugged. Ran with the AC on all day and the passengers carpet with completely soaked through. I couldn't figure out where it all come from. Betcha a fiver that's it.

Why do they get plugged and how do I fix it? Or is this a service department type issue?

Note, the car only has like 2k miles on it.
