2007 S have treated windows? How clean the windows?

I just took delivery on a 2007 Cayman S and find that I'm having trouble cleaning my windows smudge free. I'm a novice at window cleaning, but now wonder if my problem is due to some coatings that might be on the window and that my first try (Windex, sorry for this challenged choice of product) didn't prove helpful. Thanks.

Vinager/water mix along with a microfiber towel works very well and I use a spcial Mr. Clean sponge (I forget its product name) for the most difficult smudges. The lack of humidity and amount of dust around here make clean windows a challenge.

356,

I use a product called Stoner Invisible Glass. Works great inside and out.
? Have you noticed any particular streaking on your windows as you raise and lower them? This seems to be a somewhat common distraction with some of our '06 cars. Hope Porsche has resolved it in the '07s. Not a major deal just requires more attention to the side glass than in other cars I've owned.
BTW, welcome aboard!

Streaking....was wax...

Swamp: No streaking so far, but only have 500+ miles. It occurs to me to ask whether the best glass cleaner is the Windex variety or the stuff that has a bit of cleaner grit in it. I've seen the latter billed as a "chrome and glass cleaner."

Swamp, I cannot get the Stoner product to work for me, it leaves a residue. And I bought a case! It may be the lack of humidity or it may be my application. Any tips?

356N, I am anal about clean glass and vinegar and water for me is better than any of the commerical stuff. It may relate to the enviroment one lives in but give it a try. The stuff with grit is a bit dangerous around your paint so be careful.

SF,: Its gotta be the humidity and dust as you suggest. That's why you guys have swamppads (almost put crocs) for cooling on top of your houses and we have AC units___but you know about that. I can't imagine any other reasons. I used it on that haze that forms over time just last week (in my van) and it cut right through with no smearing or streaking. A case? Couldn't resist a special, huh? The old vinegar and water suggestion is as good as paying money. I just don't care for the smell.

356: no grit in anything I put on my car...period.

Get a supply of micro-fiber towels and always keep a few in the car for cleaning the smudges and film from the glass. No need for any liquid cleaners - just the clean dry towels. On the outside use the same kind of towels, although you will likely need a wet sponge to soften up the bugs on the front windshield first before the final wipe with the dry clean micro-fiber towel.

There's nothing worse than spending all day applying your favorite wax and the windows look like hell! I've tried Stoner's and I have not had great success at all and I use all microfiber. The best window treatment I ever used was purchased from Properautocare.com years ago, some crazy govt. regulation stop them from selling it based on it's contents, it was the best! Now I use Hoppes, it's in a black plastic spray bottle and I got it a Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Lowe's sell it as well, $3.50 - $4.00 a bottle, try it and see hoes it works, after that, I would go the vinegar and water. The special mixture you can't buy anymore had rubbing alcohol in it, you could smell it. I called the dealer and tried to get them to sell me what they had left, but wouldn't or tell me the formula, they did confirm alcohol, water, and the secret ingredient. Good luck!

Sounds familar. There was some awesome bug killer by Zep years ago that had freon in it... killed bugs faster than a 997 Turbo and they had to pull it too thanks to gov't restrictions.

I've worn glasses all my life and in the last ten years or so my optometrist had the glass cleaning solution that worked great on my greasy, smudged glasses. When I bought a replacement bottle the optician said all you need to do is make a slution of 50/50 isopropyl alcohol (like you buy at the drug store) and deionized or distilled water with one to three drops of dawn dishwashing liquid soap. Works great. I don't know if it affects the "coating" on the windshield, but I suspect it'll dissolve car wax if sprayed on a paint surface. I'd use a microfiber towel to wipe off the solution.

I use Stoners with newspaper and it works pretty well. Plus, newspaper is cheap.

My 07 CS has some type of marking at the (inside bottom) side windows.. Can not get rid of them. You can clean it but it will come back. Must be greasy rollers or something.
