They claim on their website "5starshine.com" that their product will last 5 years guaranteed.
They also claim that the car cleaning product industry is pretty much a conspiracy and that manufacturers can make a product that last longer, but for financial and profit reasonings...why should they.
If anyone has used this product, i would really love to get their opinions.
Sounds like another attempt at selling snakeoil....but you never know.
I applied 5 Star Shine (www.5starshine.com) to my car about eight months ago. The application was conventional except for the primer wash step, but the results continue to be exceptional. I drive my car daily and hand wash it about twice a week; I have never used any product before that has such an enduring ability to repel soil and bead water (and I should add that the water beading is the smallest beading I've ever seen!). I've been so impressed that I recently did my wife's A6 and my brother quickly followed with an application on his Suburban.
Initially the claims sounded like snake oil to me so I went to the US Patent and Trademark Office and looked up their Patent. You can go to www.uspto.gov, click on "How to Search" then "Search Patent Now" then under "Issued Patents" click on "Quick Search", then in window "Term 1" enter 5,081,171, then click "Search", then open number 5,081,171.
If you read this patent it will become evident to you that this advanced molecular elctromagnetic technology is real. The fact that the US Navy fleet uses it on all of their Aegis radar systems also validates the effectiveness.
I hope this information helps you!
Regards,
Joe
Escort Radar
At ESCORT, we're continually improving our line of radar and laser detectors with the best technology. Our latest invention, the GPS-powered PASSPORT 9500ix, is no exception. It provides the best long-range protection against every known radar and laser gun in use in North America, but also incorporates GPS accuracy to silence each and every false alert. It is by far the most intelligent, fully automatic radar and laser detector ever designed. You drive. It learns. End of story. http://www.escortradar.com
I will definitely order some and give it a try. I am beyond anal about the cleanliness of my car (inside/out). My CS is blk and i vowed NEVER to buy another blk car, but no other color imho looks as good as a clean blk car.
5Star was the first product I used on the CS because my Porsche dealer sold it and it was a convenience buy. As mentioned, application was fairly conventional and painless. I thought the results were good but not earth shattering (just my personal impression). Then I switched to Zaino and am staying with Zaino...
What should I use? My Cayman is 1 month old, the weather is nice(70 F.), and it's Sunday morning. Zaino or a good carnuba. She's guards red. Someone.... please help me.

Hi Hartman,
Slightly off topic from the thread but the answer will depend on how you use your CS. I see you're also from Florida so my comments will apply since I'm in Tampa. In the summer, pure carnauba will not last more than a few weeks due to the hot sun and afternoon rains. Synthetic polishes like Zaino (or 5Star, etc.) will be better. I only notice significant degradation in Zaino's performance months after initial application. Since I wash my car weekly, I would have to reapply carnauba every 3 to 4 washes. If it is a show car or weekend only car, carnauba may be fine.
