1) washed car twice with dawn
2) clay bar entire car with Griot's clay
3) polished with Griot's #3 polish (with orbital buffer)
4) waxed with Griot's Best Show Wax (with orbital buffer)
5) removed wax by hand with micorfiber towels
The process removed many of the fine scratchs and swirls. I was really nervous about using the orbital for the first time, but it came out just like Richard (and you guys) said it would.
ps: I still don't believe these 5-10 hour detailing threads...NOBODY can have that type of patience, not even Jesus. I can't spend more than 15 mins washing my car and even then the last 5 mins I am checking out....
Hello, Chops. First off, your car looks freaking fantastic. Well done!
Also, I think this is especially impressive because the photos are not quite as good. But honestly, I think this just does more credit to your detailing job.
My Cayman S is my daily driver and only car, so there's no way I could justify a detailing regimen like yours.
But it was detailed by the dealership the other day. And though the job was not nearly as good as yours, I was newly amazed at how beautiful my car was. So, I understand your quest!
Regards,
Snaxster

First no argument about the results- the car looks great. Curious why you went with Griot's- I noticed all of the Zaino product on the cart. As a regular Zaino user, curious how you compare the two types of product?
It's the new Griot's orbital. I don't think Griot is using the Porter Cable anymore.

I got the car used and it was someone's daily driver, so it needed some TLC. It will be a weekend car so that's why I wasn't worried too much with a black car. I had a black truck a few years ago and swore I would never get black again. Oh well!

I was kind of scared to use anything else the first time. I'm going to try the orbital with Zaino on my wife's Lexus and see how that turns out.
