Got a Cayman, live in Chicago area? We need you!!!
So I went to AutoX/DA technical prep course today. ONLY TWO Caymans. That is a shame!
There were, I think, 6-7 GT3s, which should be rarer than our cars.
TWO, yes TWO driving instructors managed to mix up Cayman with Cayenne when I was talking to them Both were like "oh, it is not a DA approved car". I had to remind them what a Cayman is !!!!!!!! After which they had to retract their statements. I won't mention their names, but their badges had joining years before I was even born.
Me and Kevin (teoh2005) were there and that was it. I know there are more Cayman guys here. In a lot of those events you don't have to be a PCA member. Just come. $5 got you some learning, socializing, pizza, and beer.
Me and Kevin were probably youngest Porsche owners in the whole group. Mike, Gareth, you need to come more often. Younger owners are under-represented.
Sunday, April 29th there is Autocross training. Only $40!!!! Guys and gals, no excuse not to show up

Dude, I had NO idea about this. You should PM me with a heads up when these things come around. I would be there in a heartbeat!
We need to get the Chicagoland "gang" together now that Spring is here and get the group active, meet up, hang out, blah blah. Our area seems to be a bunch of lame *** ball strokers
Seriously, let me know when and where these things are and I will meet you there for sure. Unless it's an 8 hour class on how to hose down my car
Oh and there is a Track Day at Road America in April with the Chicago Area Rotary Club (RX7/RX8) that I might go to. I think its about $300 for 2 full track days! I will keep you posted but if I am in town I will be going.
Where is the autocross training?

Get on the Chicago PCA site. They have a schedule. I might not make it to the first autocross, since I will be in Lake Geneva that weekend. But there will be good number of them after that.

I met Apollo at Northstar Motorsports for the PCA Spring Tech Session...like he said, there were only two Caymans, but a ton of 911s as you would expect...I will be doing almost every Autocross event that I can this season...the Auto-X School will be held at Maywood on Sun April 29th, cost is $40..I will also be doing the Novice DE at Blackhawk on Wed May 9th, cost is $170...I will try to do as many DE's that I can, but will prob only do the ones that are either at Blackhawk or the Autobahn Country Club...if you be great to see some of you guys at the events...I currently live in the South Loop and Apollo in Hyde Park, PM me if any of you guys want to get together sometime...thanks
-Kevin

Are the Chicago PCA group a nice bunch of people or are they a snobby bunch?

Kevin, I know which one you are talking about He has a Napoleon syndrome. A lot of GT3 guys are uber-snobby. There are good number of very nice members who will answer every question you got. But as they say, a spoon of $hit can spoil a barrel of honey.
I still like the events and will go to as many as I can, but I will stay away from their socials, which have no learning value. They can sit and talk about 911s until their faces turn blue.
You can buy cars with the money, but you can't buy class.

Yeah we will have to see about the PCA events. I am not very good dealing with assholes to be honest. Can't stand that "high and mighty" elitist attitude when people look down on others.
Those people usually don't like my response towards them

My approach is usually instead of abandoning the organization, change it. The more of the down to earth people join, the better the organization will be.
Also, I would assume, some of the guys in that generation are a bit bitter that "young punks" like us have Pcars and they didn't at that age.
I still plan on going to a lot of their educational, autocross, and DA events. Other stuff they can keep it to themselves.
