NASA Auto Tech Club...

Dude NASA is the Best!!! After going to the PCA show today, I decided to stop by the NASA facility (open 24-7 to members) to Road balance my rear tires. I did the front on friday night. 3 Bays, we are adding 3 more.

This is where the used oil & antifreeze is stored. It is collected once filled.

Forklift & press. Microwave and fridge.

mounts up to 23" wheels

lathe which has a broken switch that costs $100.

The best balancer on earth, Hunter 9700 had the training on it friday.

We also have a welding room which is kinda full of equipment at the moment.

Can you tell me more about it? Is this just a Maryland thing or NASA does this nationally?

I live in a condo building, so working on the car in the parking lot is a big no no. I hate having to either drive all the way to Des Moines (from Chicago) to my in-laws or go to the dealer for the simplest of things like oil changes, gear lube, and etc.

Can you explain why the road force measurement is important? What exactly does a failure indicate and what does success indicate?

here read this link:
http://www.hunter.com/pub/product/ba...159T/index.htm

It helps find the heavy(unbalanced) part of the tire and rim, puts them on the opposite sides so they keep the wheels balanced-you have to remove the tire from the rim and remount it. even if it is balanced it can be 50lbs off on one side. This process eliminates that. 3 of mine were off.

My local Goodyear store uses the Hunter 9700 and you can often find defective tires (brand new ones) by placing them on this machine. I recommend it. Lots of places have them.
