i purchased my cayman about 5-1/2 weeks ago and i just received a call from my sales consultant. he said that he was checking on me and wanted to find out how things were going, if i was experiencing any problems, or if i wanted more detailed explanation of anything.
i responded by indicating that so far all was well except my gas mileage, but that i attribute it to the fact that its still in the break-in period. he told me to keep an eye on the mileage and to call them if it didn't improve by the time the car was broken-in.
he then told me to stop by if i'm in the neighborhood...they have new "stuff". was he trying to get me to stop by so that he could sell me another car?
I drop into my dealer about once a week and just shoot the breeze with my sales rep. He actually lurks this site and we talk about what is happening with the Houston Cayman-ites.
Part of a good salesman is keeping in touch with past buyers so that they will recommend him to their friends.
Just my $.02

If you couldn't read his mind, how'd you expect us to?
Any one know that dealer/salesman?
Maybe they got the Aero Kit or other options they want to add in for you?

I have the same sales guy as Tiptoe and I too stop by the dealership to check out cars and just see what's new. Proved to be my undoing on one visit, as I bought another Pcar, a Cayenne for my wife.
Those tricky sales guys. You'd think I'd know better being in a sales type role myself.

LOL!!!! Too funny...so I guess that I was wrong in my above post. Last time I saw him (yesterday, I went to check out the Ford GT - it sold btw), I was talking about being behind a Carrera GT last week - it was sweet!!! He gave me a 2003 Panorama that featured the GT. That dealership sold 6 of those i the past - nice ride...I was behind him at 10pm in my Cayman we were both doing 45 down a residental road, so I got a good look.

TX-KmanS,
Looks like I'll be buying my wife a 2008 Cayenne very soon......and I've referred folks to my salesman too! But he is a nice fella...

It's always good to have close relationship with your Porsche dealer!
Besides Sean is a great guy, I stop by when I get a chance and just say "Hi" to everyone. Keith in the service dept. is a pretty funny guy as well. I always say good things about those guys and I always hear good things abouth them from other customers. Unlike the MB dealership, were all I hear are complaints about them.
Just my 2 cents.

I don't mean to sound cynical, but he may have more mundane alterior motives. One way car dealerships are rated for PCNA is through after delivery interviews by outside consultants. He may have been trying to cover his bases for the upcoming call or letter from an interviewer. Nothing wrong with it, just more likely the motive than thinking you'll be back next week for a second Cayman.
A good salesman/woman to me will always follow up and maintain some sort of relationship. Not neccesarily a pushy sales one.
I had one salesman that I enjoyed showing my new mods too. Whenever I was in for service he called me to make sure it went ok, even though he probably didnt have any say over the service. Whenever he got a new car or something worthy of being excited about he calls me in for a test drive. I show up, we shoot the breeze, he tosses me the keys and I come back and he wont once ask if I want it.
Now that's a salesman I would do repeat business with (and I did)
