Cayman Cup Holder Spring Repair

While grabbing a bottle of water from the cup holder the small black spring loaded clip (and spring) came out. I have been trying to solve the riddle of how to get it back in so the clip returns like a trap door. Any insight to this simple procedure?

I had the exact same thing happen to me with a bottle of water. I brought it to the dealer and they replaced my cupholders ...
