i’ve noticed inside trunk pulls - does anyone use these?
i hate printing on the paint and attempt to close the trunk with as little touching as possible (?) and usually end up having to press on the Porsche or Cayman badges. is this common, or do i need to practice more to get the trunks to shut from using the handle inside? (i get a bizarre image of a crazy twisting movement similar to those on bowlingTV…)
(it just does not seem to want to shut the way our audi tt’s (retired) trunk did… but then again, is not an audi… yadda yadda) *grin*

The car is pretty airtight, so it's a lot easier to close the rear hatch when either a door or window is open... in those instances, I find the hatch will close with no need to push it down. When I do need to push it down, I put my fingers on the "Cayman S" logo to do so. The pull on the inside of the hatch works well for me, too.
On the front trunk, you'll always have to latch it after pulling it down. The lid is made of aluminium, so you need to be careful you don't bend it. A lot of people are told by their sales people (and I think this is in the manual too) to use both hands and gently push it down at both front corners to latch it. I've used a light touch on the Porsche crest for all seven of the Porsche cars I've had, and after more than a year, and 20k miles I see no harm in the alignment of the front of the hood.

I use the inside pull to get it down to the locked position, then I use the remote key to close the windows. If the windows are up, I push down on the cayman logo, not the painted surface.
Works well.
Mods4Cars
Mods4cars was founded in 2002 with the idea to add a highly demanded feature to the otherwise almost perfect Porsche Boxster: Comfort One-Touch roof operation while driving at slow speeds. The resulting product offered not only that, but also allowed quick and easy installation by just swapping out a relay box, thus leaving no traces and no permanent changes on the vehicle. The first smartTOP roof controller was born.

For the front compartment, I usually use a folded cloth and lightly push on the bottom edge of the hood below the Porsche crest to latch it. I would rather not push down on the crest, thinking that the lower (leading) edge of the hood might be a bit more reinforced. For the rear hatch, I generally push gently on the Cayman script. 987f

I watched my salesman close the front trunk of a demo by pushing on the crest. My Porsche technician buddy saw me do that and freaked out saying he had seen many cars with dented hoods from ham-fisted owners. He prescribed the front corners method.

Wow, this is news to me! I thought it didn't matter how I closed the front trunk, I just put my fingers in those holes near the front on the inside of each side to close it, then I push down on the crest for the final 'click'. I never knew this could alter the alignment of the front hood . After readung your very informative comments, I'll now use the face of the hood with a hand on each side, holding a MF cloth of course for the final 'click'. Thanks!
my dealer also closed the front by pushing on the crest - ack. looks like the gentle corner press approach is the best way.
also thanks for the tip on cracking the windows or door a bit before shutting the back - wonderful!

For years people have been pushing on the crest, but many of the cars have the aluminum hoods now, not steel as in the past... it's a tough habit to break. for me, I still do it, but I'm very careful. If you look underneath, you'll see that there's pretty much as much reinforcement under the crest as there is under the corners... anyway, like I said, be careful either way.
