XPA Steering Wheel

I have the XPA/Thicker Steering Wheel - Leather. It's an expensive option at over $1k, but I thought it would be worth it because I really like thicker wheels.

However, I was driving my M3 today and that wheel is so much better than the wheel in my CS: basically, it's thicker.

I did some searches on the options out there, but only found the alcantara options and the various TechArt models (the leather one and the leather+CF one).

I seem to remember someone showing another one, but couldn't find the reference.

Does anyone know of, or has anyone tried, any other options?

I went with the Atiwe/Raid Daytona 340mm wheel with alunminium as I was nor satisfied with the stock wheel. his wheel is a BIG improvement. Sorry for the crappy pics, but it was raining.

I like that except I'm not a big fan of the Aluminum. How much?

$1100 with adaptor through Carnewal. The aluminum matches the other aluminum trim in car perfectly and really brightens up the interior.

That's a pretty cool wheel! I'd prefer all leather myself, just because I take the car to the track and want that grip. Very nice, though!

Doesn't the aluminum burn your hands if it's been in the sun?

I would think you'd want maximum grip for a steering wheel, like with alcantara and leather mix.

The XPA feels nicer than standard sport wheel in feel and thickness ( it better because it costs $$ ) . I read some where that Porshaa is reluctant to make much thicker wheels with thick padding because it dulls down the steering feedback.

Not sure if it is accurate info but that is what I read

If you want to increase the responsiveness of the steering, put less power steering into it.

C'est tout!

Im a BMW guy too...you cant beat those thick BMW steering wheels. My cayman doesnt even have the thicker factory option, it almost feels cheap in my hands.

Seems like options are particularly limited if you have a triangular airbag.

And why not black? What color is your exterior.

If I were you, black steering wheel, black carpet mats, and get your center console painted Basalt. I think those would have a nice contrast, my opinion of course.

I know you said that you have checked out the Tech Art wheel but I thought I'd show it anyway. Except for the price ($1700) I have been completely satisifed with it. It really has changed the driving experience for me.

Yeah, my biggest issue with it is the price, especially after I spent the $1k on the XPA. Wonder if I could sell the XPA and get that one ...

You couldn't really sell yours and get the Tech Art unless you want to lose more money. They charge a $600 core deposit that you get back when you send them your old wheel. The air bag comes out of your current wheel.
