I noticed when my buddy "helped" me change my track tires and wheels back out for my street ones he scratched one of my calipers. Does anyone know of a source for touch-up paint for our calipers - obviously has to withstand high heat, as well as a recommended method for touchup? Scratch is about 1.5" long.

I've heard really good things about this product. G2 - producer and distributor of the G2 BRAKE Caliper Paint System Set and other high quality carstyling and performance products.
No first hand experience however. You may be allright with any high temp. engine paint also. Be sure and clean it well when you touch it up.

Been there, done that......on both newer red calipers and older black ones.

For the reds.....simply get guards red touch up paint from Porsche (or other source).....the calipers are guards red. Then you can use your favorite touch up methods......including the layered and Lanka routine to make it almost undetectable....

As far as problem with temp......I have touched up many a red caliper and haven't noticed any problems with adhesion or looks after many years....

A good reason to buy Boothe wheel holders.

I have one, and I had him use it, but he slipped and the wheel rotated and banged into the Caliper, so just bad luck I guess...

As mr atlas says, use guards red. strangely enough, i've repaired a chip or two using testors model paint. it held up for 3 years and the chips were invisible -no discoloring as you might think. testors has guards red.

I think two of the Boothe wheel holders work better than a single one to prevent such accidents.

Performance parts has the caliper paint kit, if my memory serves me well.

And while we are on the topic of calipers - I purchase one of those Auto art Caliper clocks that is red with the rotor (for my garage). And this guy on Ebay sells Porsche (correct lettering) for the calipers. So, I painted over the Auto Art text and applied the decal, and I now have a Porsche Caliper Clock!!
