Would any tall, long-legged guys please tell me how you fit into your Cayman comfortably? What's the best setup for tall guys? On the Rennteam list, an owner 6'5" said sport seats manual and sports steering wheel give the most room. Do you agree?
I'm 6'4" with a 36" inseam. I love they way the Cayman drives and only haven't bought one yet because of back and leg pains on longer test drives.
Should I just forget about it and stick with the bigger 911 platform? Or is there a way to get me comfortably in a Cayman.
Welcome to the site! Let me suggest you do a search as there are many previous discussions and a wealth of information shared on this topic.
In answer to your specific questions, I find the standard seats provide a decent upright position and suffcient leg room. To slide the seat as far back as possible, raise the power seatback slightly. If you start with too great of a recline agle, the seatback hits the engine wall and limits seat travel.
The sport steering wheel (slightly smaller diameter) allows for a bit more entry/exit clearance and knee room. Even after longer drives (300+ miles in a day) my 6'4" frame and 35" inseam remains comfortable.
6'3" with a 34" inseam. You can fit comfortably. I like having my seatback pretty vertical so I can better see the passenger side corner of the car. Doing this allows you to push the seat base back just a tad further. The main thing is to set the seat where you can depress the clutch without fully extending your leg or ankle. If the bottom of the clutch feels like you're reaching for it, move the seat forward a bit. Find that comfort zone. Then telescope the steering wheel all the way out and you should be fine.

thanks. I found some of the other threads by doing a "legroom" search. This is what I've found so far:
1. Sport steering wheel (smaler in dia. l than std. wheel)
2. Raise seat slightly, allows more travel back and more tilt, because of slanted engline firewall.
3. Steering wheel out and up, so knees don't bump into it.
4. No consensus on what is the best seat. Some said std. manual seat is fine; others that power seat will go down farther. Some said manual sport seats best.
5. Heated seats can help a sore back.
The tallest Cayman owner to post was 6'5", but others less tall have reported such serious legroom problems that they either didn't buy the car or bought it and can't drive it far.
It seems to be an individual thing, regardless of one's numerical height. What is acceptably comfortable? Maybe it's different depending on the indiviudal? Also, all our bodies are not the same, even if we have the same measurements.
Conclusion: I'm willing to give the Cayman S another try -- using all the suggestions for seat and steering wheel adjustments found on this site
I am 6'2" and have driven 700 miles in a day no problem. I too debated this and I went with the standard manual seat. What I found is that the manual seat provides a little more leg room. Manual seat has pleanty of adjustments, don't really care about power seats. No one else drives my CS anyway. I would suggest the heated seat option. On long trips they help, if your back gets a little fatiged you can kit on the heat(even in the summer) and instant heating pad, this helps more than you might think.
Read my thread. I am 6'5" 250 LB and wear 36 inseam at a minimum. Sports steering wheel felt actualy worse than the standard. I am not joking. I sat in several versions of the CS and combinatio I bought is the best.

I'm 6'3", 225 lbs, and just picked up a non-S with the base manual seats and the standard steering wheel. I drove 200+ miles today in two sessions, plus another 30 in short trips, and I feel fine, just tired from being up too long. My legs are fairly long for my height (vs. people with long torsos). I find that my legs can't straighten all the way, but are only a little bent (with the steering wheel toward me and up).
If you've gone for a test drive for an hour and have pain afterwards, that's not a good sign.
Do your legs push on anything? For me, they don't touch the steering wheel, and my right leg rests on the center console. Do you know what causes the pain?
My seat adjustment: all the way down (for headroom), then fairly upright, then all the way back. Nothing fancy, and none of it's too critical to make me comfortable.

6'6" but 34" inseam - no big problems fitting - snug but comfortable

The pain I felt was in my lower back and in my accelerator foot. The car had power seats, all the way back, and I felt as if the lumbar option on the power seats was really making leg room less, even with lumbar deflated as much as possible. My accelerator foot hurt on top, above the ankle, where the foot meets the lower leg. Maybe too much angle on the approach to the pedal?
My experience in two test drives was that the regular manual seat was better for legroom and comfort than the power seat (because of the lumbar).
Which seat offers better legroom--the std. seat or sports seat?
I've heard manual is better than electric for legroom in both kinds of seats. And I've also heard some owners say sport seat is better than std. seat. Others say the opposite.
So what's your opinion? I'm especially interested in hearing from tall(er) drivers.
I think you will find the limitation not directly related to the type of seat, it is more to how inclined you like your seat. The incline of the seat will limit how far the seat will go back until it hits the engine.
The best way to see if you are comfortable is to sit in a Cayman with each type of seat and judge for yourself. If your dealer doesn't have the particular seats you are interested in then be sure to go to Croctoberfest, there is bound to be a seat in every variety there.
Because this is a duplicate, I am going to merge this with your last thread.
