Sorry to hear about your problem, but it sounds you are not taking it too bad
Around here the cost of the ticket is not much compared to the insurance - for 3 year after the ticket insurance is up - I suspect many members will have a hard time watching their speed
Hey Vic, you're probably the 1st driver in the country to get ticketed in a Cayman. Our own resident celebrity & an interesting piece of Porsche history.
You beat me to it! I thought I was history yesterday. I have no front plate of course and as I pulled away from a stoplight like there was no tomorrow, and you know how that can sound! I looked over to the opposite side of the street and in the center lane waiting to turn left was a cop in his full blown jet black Mustang (over here cops cars can use there own car for duty). He had his blue light on top and gave me a hard look and I knew I was done for. I thought he would at least get me for no plates.
I immediately let off on the gas and prayed. I thought for sure he was going to do a U turn and pull me over, but he just turned left and keep on going, I drove slow the rest of the way home.
Good reason to invest in all the latest electonics for radar and laser detection! Still waiting for a profile picture of your Seal Grey w/ Classics just like I plan to order.

Escort Radar
At ESCORT, we're continually improving our line of radar and laser detectors with the best technology. Our latest invention, the GPS-powered PASSPORT 9500ix, is no exception. It provides the best long-range protection against every known radar and laser gun in use in North America, but also incorporates GPS accuracy to silence each and every false alert. It is by far the most intelligent, fully automatic radar and laser detector ever designed. You drive. It learns. End of story. http://www.escortradar.com
I am sorry to hear that. Most of us will be speeding in this car and if you are at the wrong place at the wrong time, well, then it's your day. But, it could be worse. You don't want to end up like this: http://www.wreckedexotics.com/carrer...1211_001.shtml
Vic, post a picture forhistorical purposes here. Block out the incriminating info that your insurance company might find. I'm afraid the future looks bleak anyway. See below.

Police in Britain have begun testing helmet-mounted radar for bicycle and motorcycle cops that would enable them to catch speeders while being very difficult to spot. It’s all part of a plan moving towards the day when every car journey will be recorded by computer. Using a network of 3,000 cameras that read every passing number plate, the U.K. will be the first country in the world to record the movements of all vehicles '
What got me in trouble is the exhaust note. On the highway, in 3rd gear I kept my foot in it past 4K just to hear the wonderful exhaust note. On the side of the highway in the emergency lane, a Florida Highway Patrol Trooperwas just finishing up a ticket. When I rev past 4K and the exhaust came in, he almost twisted his head off to see what was coming. It just so happens, you have to go over 80MPH in 3rd to get past 4K. Busted, 80 in a 55. He did know that it was a Porsche but didn't know the model.
As Mpollard said, I was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. It's no fun getting a ticket, but it's worth it when you're driving your Cayman with passion and excitement. I do think we should all be careful out there. We are all great drivers, but it's the other guy.
Flyingrock, sorry I've have sent you the pic yet. It's been raining in Miami, and haven't gottenthe chance to take a profile picture. I'll try to do it tomorrow and will email it to you.
I was playing a little cat and mouse with a 2005 'vette this morning and was pulling away from him in 5th. -
I think that if you are going to drive fast, it is iportant to know the shift change habits of Smokey in the areas that you press on the pedal.
I just went through wine country today and the local Sheriff waits for speeders, becasue they usually have just left wineries ... a double bonus!!
But there are lots of little windy roads off the 'beat'en path ...

Cayman S - a portable amusement park
Thanks so much for the profile picture. I have printed several, use a red marker to change the interior color and am now able to daydream about getting mine when I can finally order in March.
At the end of our street is a donut show and when wesee the highway partrollers there we know it is time to test the upper limits of our cars!
'Heard today about Austalia where the rumor has it there will be photo and speed with time and date recorders on the most out of the way locations, where units are powered by the sun, and use satellite communications to result in tickets issued with no troopers or even humans involved. Logically, technology is available today to do that in the U.S. How disappointing to be driving down a country road and across a 2 lane bridge within reasonable speed, and a sudden acceleration would be zapped to result in a ticket in your mail shortly, or even a summons, or a constable to take you to court. No fair, but big brother needs the money, apparently. On the track, everyone..
