2007 Black/Black CS

Well I got the 07 Black/Black Cayman S and Love It!
I have a few questions since im trying to get used to this car and still reading the manual as well, in between driving it.

Questions:

1. I thought the Cayman S comes standard with the silver color leading edge on the bottom of the front lip. Mine did not. Did the dealer try to pull something on me; like give me a regular Cayman front bumper when its supposed to be a Cayman S front bumper?

2. I stalled twice while parking, (please dont laugh) I was going slow not to hit the curb and it stalled - still getting used to the car. When i tried to re-start it, it did not -both times. I tried re-clutching, putting parking brake on and it would not re-start. I had to actually take the key out of the ignition and re-put it in and then turn the key, then it started. Is this normal? I can't believe that if you stall you have to take the key out to start over again. If you are in an emergency situation and it stalls it should re-start immediatly, I had the clutch fully depressed and it would not start till i took out and re-put-in the key. Maybe im doing something wrong.

3. Yes, when I hit bumps the rear hatch thumps. I told the dealer to make sue to test it before i pick it up cause i read about it here, but obviously he didn't check cause it thumps with every bump.

4. When they detailed the car they got wax on the rubberish lip/molding agaist the windows and it isn't black anymore it turned a terrible whiteish matte finish and baked in the sun- how do i fix this and make it shiney black again?

Everything else on the car is perfecto and I love this car, best car I ever had.

Sorry for these stupid questions/ concerns but i thought you guys and gals would give me some quick assistance and I appreciate it very much.
Thanks

When you get to the appropriate place in the manual you will find that you have to turn the key all the way to left and then back right to re-start the car. Lots of us have done that by the way.

Griots has a product that removes wax (must have not been one of the premium brands like P21S or Zymol) from trim. Griot's Garage 1-800-345-5789 - Car Care

There are lots of threads on fixing the thump but one often over looked is the noise the privacy shield makes - searching this site will turn up a few guides for fixing it but I'd go back to the dealer at least once if I had this. Just because you asked them to check it doesn't mean they did.

A quick reply to your first two questions.

1. It was an option to have the lip painted the same color as the body.

2. Don't worry about stalling while going slow. I did it a bunch of times and you will get used to it. To restart turn your key all the way to the left and then restart.

Here is a link to some Porsche idiosyncrasies.

There are a bunch of threads regarding the thunk and a whole section dedicated to detailing.

Congrats!! I hope you enjoy your CS.

Front lip on 2006 was silver, not on 2007 models

No, the dealer didn't pull anything on you. One of the minor changes between 06 models and 07 models was the 2007 models (Cayman S only) came with body colored front lip. There was a lengthy discussion about this when the 2006 Cayman S was first introduced with many preferring body color but just as many liking the silver (believe the literature calls it titanium-colored) front lip. On the 2007 Cayman (2.7 version) the front lip is black.

In '06, Cayman S had silver front spoiler lips. In '07 Cayman S changed to body color, and Cayman came out with black lips (with body color as an expensive option).

I have the black and love it too. But, black is difficult to keep clean because EVERYTHING shows. A single fingerprint will stand out. Nevertheless, it looks unbelievable when polished with some good wax like Zano Zaino Store
