The Jeep

We are having business meetings this week and I decided to take my team out to dinner on Lake Minnetonka - outside of Minneapolis. This is a pretty expensive part of town - some of the houses on the lake are 40,000 square feet!

The team had a good time and on the way back to the cars we stopped and admired one of my team's '63 Stingray. We passed Mercedes, Lexus, BMWs and even a Bentley on the way back to the garage.

I got to my Cayman S and there is a small piece of paper tucked into the driver-side window.

"Oh God," I thought, "Someone has dinged my car and left a note." I pulled the scrap of paper from my car. It said...

"Beautiful CaymanS ... Congrats. The Jeep."

I really didn't buy this car spending a second on what other people would think. I'm not a bling guy. I just really liked the car. I wasn't really even aware of the attention the car would gather.

I do have to wonder though - how many other cars get notes on them from admiring strangers?

DF.

It's pretty incredible. I had two brand new Vettes pull up to me when I was loading groceries the other day to say "hi, great car". They both got out, did the walk around, etc.

My favorite was a couple months ago when a woman in a RX350 was literally hanging out the driver's window in morning rush hour traffic frantically waving me down to give me a thumb's up....I actually freaked when I saw her immediately thinking my entire car was on FIRE or something...nope, just an admirer!

Hard to know how to even react to such folly??!

I've had the CS for a couple months now. After owning it - I think I understand the value of it better:

1) It's a great sports car that allows moderately skilled people to do great things and highly skilled people to do incredible things.

2) It's a practical car. The normal phrase for this is 'daily driver'.

3) It's a solid car. You can track it without leaving pieces on the track behind you.

4) It's a prestige item. It wins prizes. It looks beautiful. It has an elite brand name.

I'm thrilled with my purchase. Now, on with my next mod.

Assuming you've taken it up to Brainerd, if not, that should be your next mod

I see there are a few more Caymans registered for the Fall DT. Let me know if you want to discuss!

John

i'm registered for driver behavior modification at Brainerd September 28th and 29th.

I have heard and am following the advice that the most important modification to make is to the driver.

Look forward to seeing you there. I look at it as "indulge your innate desire to drive a car like its supposed to be driven" weekend!

There are a few more Caymans showing up, its nice to have some to compare notes with.

By the way, I spend my fair share of time in Wayzata too - you're right, there's a lot of "nice iron" driving around there.
