1) If someone from Porsche asked you "Why do you like the CaymanClub.net site?" or "What is it that you find valuable (if anything) about the CaymanClub.net" site, how would you respond to this person from Porsche? For the sake of argument assume that they are someone at Porsche with some decision making power, are there any decisions that you'd like to see them make as they relate to this website?
2) Now assume that the same question is asked from a Porsche dealership sales General Manager, what would you say?

Why do I like the Cayman Club?
The people. They are friendly, fun, and all sharing their automotive passion.
The content. I love to learn more about the Cayman, my passion.
The acceptance of the Cayman. Not something you will find at the other Porsche forums. On other forums the Cayman is often put down and criticized because it costs more than a Boxster and the car's strengths are dismissed.
What do I find valuable about the Cayman Club?
Detailed technical information. I spent time here trying to learn more about available Cayman options. I learned more about the options here than most Porsche salespeople know.
Owner Experience. Understanding an option, car, or modification technically and hearing an owner share their experience with that car, option or modification first hand are two very different things. The experience of other owners is something I find very valuable.
Collection of Complaints. Machines aren't perfect. Sure, it takes a strong stomach to read some of the complaints, but I'm more comfortable buying a car when I know what I'm getting myself into.
Friendships. The Cayman Club has become part of my ownership experience, and I feel I have forged friendships here. I strongly value these connections and relationships.

You can learn more about the Cayman at the Cayman Club than your salespeople know. I went there hoping to just read more about the Cayman and to see how it was being received. Reading all of the excitement and positive testimonials pushed me over the edge to buy one. Once that decision was made, I needed to narrow down my options selection. That list grew significantly once I got to talk to other owners about their options experiences. Not only did the Cayman Club push me over the edge toward buying a Cayman, it also became responsible for adding Sport Chrono, Full Leather, Deviated Stitching, and the XPA Sport Steering Wheel to my wish list. My option list was much different (and much smaller) before I started my research here.
Sport Chrono and Chrono Plus
This optional package is a valuable addition for trackday use. Available in conjunction with the CDR-24 CD radio, it includes a swivel-mounted analog and digital timer unit which is centrally located on the dashboard. All functions are easily accessible via the control stalk for the on-board computer. Analog dials measure hours, minutes and seconds, while a separate digital field displays whole seconds, tenths and one hundredths of a second. A second digital display runs in parallel in the instrument cluster. Click this Link to visit the FAQ entry for Sport Chrono.
I would tell Porsche that I found detailed information that advised and assisted my purchasing process. Now that I am an owner, there is the camaraderie, shared ownership experiences, and a source of continued technical support (diy, etc.). I would suggest that Porsche provide some factory (or PCNA) liaison with the Cayman Club to assist owners with warranty problems, general questions and the relaying of suggestions for improvements to future Caymans. As for the dealership itself, I informed my salesman from the outset of my visits to the Cayman Club site (before I had joined), and actually had him visiting as well to become more informed about the Cayman. 987f

Ken, agree with what Gator Bite says... + Some excellent answers to the questions I long wanted to ask are answered by those who know. (recent one on "why so long clutch travel" is a great example)... All of this makes it a cool place to hang out.
But I would tell the Porsche factory and dealer that if it wasn't for this site, I'd be driving a Corvette. I had planned that and was on record as saying the CS was too expensive for what you got compared to the C6*. This site changed my mind.
I also like the maturity of the site. Many forums don't achieve that level and the value is significantly reduced...sometimes to 0.
[* left as an exercise for the student to find out what national magazine I said that in ]

GB may have exhausted the options and succinctly detailed everything that is positive about the Cayman Club with the sole exception of more emphasis on the prevailing sense of humor & Caring Support {Note: the C S.}, but 987f nailed the opportunity on the head.
This forum makes for the perfect setting for a Porsche liaison AND we can provide their Porsche liaison with better marketing and R&D ideas than what I'll bet {Dang, I wish I could go to Croctoberfest.} they spend tons of money on, tens of thousands of Marks annually.
Think about that.

It's my secret weapon, my ace in the hole and up my sleeve should I get a salesman and/or a dealer that is ignorant or unethical.
Without this site, I doubt I'd understand a modicum of what the CS is about and the optioning and all. The salesman I met certainly didn't know and the CC saved me from paying list price. Well, I really didn't have the money anyway, but I figured out that that particular dealer was just too strident in their pricing.
However, should I need to convince my future service department about any reported concerns & problems I wouldn't hesitate to flash him my CC badge and establish my credibility.
We get badges, right?
