Key Ring - Key Fob

If you are thinking of buying a key Fob like this for $95.00,

Consider the Crest Key ring for $15

The key fob is heavy and bulky. In fact so much that I wouldn't wnat to carry it in my pocket. I am going to send it back and get the sport footrest with the money. Russ

I was given one as a gift, but the other day while bending down to pick up my son I almost snapped off the ring part. The combination of the actual key and this key fob makes more than a pocket full. This key fob is now consigned to the wife.

I just got mine today along with a nice leather crest light blue key ring. The key fob is nice and good quality, but it will not be in my pocket. In fact I am going to get one more with crest in black for my second key when I send the Fob back.

Thanks for that post. I had thought about getting that key fob. It's a clean, attractive design. The $95 price tag was making me hesitate. You've made my decision an easy one. I'm going for the key ring with the crest. I think in brown.

Scuba,

This size of both in the above photos looks about the same, that is not the case. The key fob is larger, thicker and heavy! And in my opinion not worth over $20. I thought the leather would be like soft glove leather for $95. It is not, it is heavy thick feeling leather, and you can barely make out the word Cayman unless you know what you are looking for.

I keep my key in a little leather pouch that I picked up from a street vendor in DC for $5. It keeps me from scratching the door handles, etc.

You guys are absolutely correct.

What we have here is an oversized key and teaming that up with an oversized key fob just doesn't make sense!

I was given one as a present and I wouldn't have bought one myself - the fob is now used only on the spare key - my pockets just aren't big enough, coupled with this key ring being rather stiff and inflexible.

What I did was buy the leather pouch from porsche which was cheaper and protects the key when its in your pocket stopping the accidental opening of the doors/boot etc...

Which one did you buy? It appears there are two different ones. I would like to order the same leather pouch for the key.

What I finally did was to buy the lanyard from the dealer. It goes over your neck and says Porsche on it. It is gret for track days in that the ring at the end has a plastic thing that clicks into the lanyard and a standard ring that goes onto the key.

But, the ring doesn't fit really well, so I replaced it with a better fitting ring. When the lanyard isn't being used, I just have the key, ring and the little plastic 'forked' thing. It is liveable and actually pretty cool. It looks a little like the alien technology that coincides with the car ...
