I know that you can set your windows to go down when you press and hold the lock on the key fob if the car is set that way. I am also assuming that you could set the car to lock once you hit the standard 9 mph. Does anyone know the codes you need to put in to do this? With the VAG Com tool for audi/vw you could do this easily, is there something for Porsche that is the same?
Would be nice to get a sheet that lists all the possible programming options for the car - I remember when I was picking up my last BMW, the salesman had a sheet that I filled out, that listed all the options - many options might be settable using the onboard computer, but it is still nice to have a summary sheet.
Another nice thing would be to find some 'easter eggs' for the car - on some cars one puts the key in taps the gas pedal few times, takes the key out, puts it back, and has access to some features - anybody knows of any tricks that might work on the Cayman ?
If you have a chance can you get out of them a list of all the things that can be programmed ? It would be nice for the people here to know exactly what can be done so people can make good decisions ( ie. with good advice from others ) before heading to the dealer - thanks.
Are you getting the remote window operation enabled? I asked about this in another post actually. When I saw that menu listing, I asked the tech if he could enable it and he told me he couldn't enable anything that he wasn't trained to do. He said if he activated it, it might throw error codes elsewhere.
Let us know if your dealer is able to enable that for you.
I don't get the benafit of being able to open all the windows with the remote key? Seems like you could accidently lock your car and leave the window's open. I'm sensitive to this since last week I parked mu truck and accidently pressed unlock instead of lock. My bag with my laptop and papers quickly disappeared.
Mods4Cars
Mods4cars was founded in 2002 with the idea to add a highly demanded feature to the otherwise almost perfect Porsche Boxster: Comfort One-Touch roof operation while driving at slow speeds. The resulting product offered not only that, but also allowed quick and easy installation by just swapping out a relay box, thus leaving no traces and no permanent changes on the vehicle. The first smartTOP roof controller was born.
I had this feature on my Audi S4, I had someone with a VAG tool reprogram it so I could open or close the windows from the remote, the dealer would not do it. I found it useful when my car had been sitting in the sun to be able to open all the windows while walking to my car to let some of the hot air out. I am not sure I understand your concern about locking the car with the windows down, you have to press and hold the unlock button to open the windows. With or without this feature you can still lock the car from the remote with the windows open.
I use it all the time on my A4. During summer when it's been hot and sunny (and my car outside), I open the windows with the remote as I approach the car to allow the hot air to escape the vehicle.
My concern would be to hit lock and walk away and find the windows down when I return. I see no point in locking the car with the windows down. I am a little peranoid do to accidently unlocking as apposed to locking my car and walking away.
It maybe different on the Cayman but on my Audi you had to press and hold the unlock button to open the windows or press and hold the lock button to close the windows. If you are locking the car the windows wouldn't open.

Not sure how the Porsche works yet, but I concur about the Audi.
