Wheel Mounting Guide Bolt

I was perusing Suncoast Porsche for new deals and came across this:

99957107430 - Wheel mounting Guide bolt $8.95 !!!

It's doesn't shine like the one from Ralph, but it will hold your tire in place ...

Now why didn't I think of that! Much better than using my knees to try to hold the wheel in place . . .

Because you didn't read the Articles section? http://www.caymanclub.net/reviews/sh...roduct=1&cat=2

I'm kidding of course but as a reminder to everyone if you spend a little time in the articles, files and faq's sections you will be rewarded.

I'm surprised one is not included with the Cayman......

My 1982 Mercedes 300E came with one in the tool kit......

Probably because it does you no good without a jack and lug wrench, neither of which is supplied with the car. When Porsches with lug bolts came with those tools, a guide bolt was included in the tool kit.

Still have my tool kit from my '00 Boxster S and use the guide bolt every time. I also ordered a spare wheel lock key, so I can leave one in the front trunk where it belongs for emergencies and have another for changing my track wheels all the time.

I use three.

(Just to take extra extra extra care not to drop a wheel on the
ceramic rotors.)

I used two and decided, correctly, that three is better. It doesn't
take any longer and it's an easier process.

Thought I would share...

- Mark

PS: I keep them in the car even though I have no jack/spare/etc.
(which really annoys me)

If I had a spare, though, there is the problem of what to do with the
road wheel while running on the spare. Especially if the GF is with
me. I somehow don't think she would be too wild about holding
the tire/wheel in her lap on the way to the tire store.

So my current plan is to leave her there where the flat occurred, chain
her to a tree or a power pole so she won't wander off and get lost,
place the tire/wheel in the passenger seat, get it replaced and come
back for her.

Do you all think that's a good plan? (assuming I can find a spare!)
