Anyone done this? Care to comment?

I have the great fortune to be close to this establishment and the beautiful Barber Motorsports Park. I have already asked my lovely spouse for a gift certificate for the holidays.

I have been on the track MANY times on my Ducati, but never in a car. I am trading dragging a knee for heel-toe shifting. I think at my advanced age (47) it is about time.

Maybe we can put together a Cayman Club group session. I would be happy to negotiate and coordinate if there is an interest. I know they do such things for various companies, so why not us.

Are interesting topics found by searching around. A group event would be fun.

Thanks for the gently reminder. Searched and read the posts.

Still ... anyone interested in a Cayman Club exclusive PDE outing at Barbers in the spring or fall of 2008?

I am really curious to see if driving on the track is as much fun as riding my bike. I hope some of the skills are transferable.

FYI .. Barber track times as follows:

AMA superbike 1:25
Rolex Porsche 250 1:22
Indy car test laps: 1:09
Cayman S track day: ???? we shall see

Yes, I spend waaaay too much time at Barber Motorsports Park.

I've been to the Porsche school at the Barber track. They use 911s and Cayennes. Are you talking about a Cayman event that Porsche would host and run or a private event renting the track?

I was talking about a group event where a number of cayman club members attend the Porsche school together. They do these kind of "corporate" schools all the time for large companies.

I wonder if we could do an event where the instructors let us use our own vehicles instead of the school cars? I assume there would be some kind of inspection required, but the local Porsche dealer is practically next door to the track so that might be fairly easy.

If there is an interest I would be happy to inquire. Mr. Barber is a client of my firm and we are a sponsor of the Porsche 250 event held at the track, so maybe we could work something out.

I attended the PDE two day course and it was excellent for my level. Now I'd like something a little more intense. They have a Masters Course which may be appealing. However if you can organise a Cayman event I would be very interested since some of the CC members are very experienced drivers. PM me if this develops further.
Great idea!

I would be interested, but it would have to be a weekend. I am from Puerto rico, I would also need to pay for track car rental.

Dont go expecting any track time in a cayman. It is my understanding that they are only used for some very limited exercises. Another 911 protection deal where they don't want caymans turning better track numbers than their cash cow 911s. Emabrassing when little brother goes out and kicks @ss.

I was tempted to go to this school because it is near where my Mom lives. However, after looking at it a bit I feel it is way too expensive for what it is. I did the SIR training in Seattle, an all day class with an instructor for $400. They are charging more then double that, partly because they are providing the cars (I'm unsure if you can drive a Cayman).

Having said that, if there was a good group discount I might do it since I could go see my mom in the same trip. But, not at the current price.
