Orient Express has gratiously provided PDF files from Porsche Sales and Marketing for your review with highly detailed information about the Cayman, some never seen before. There is also additional information on certain options and when they will become available in the U.S., for example the Carrera Sport wheels are coming to the U.S. but not until early 2006. Enjoy!
Yes, such as those Carrera Sport wheels available in the US in what was it Feb or March? Along with many more options available in December, but does that mean a December build, or a December order? Let's hope it means BUILD!
Great information. This should help with the long wait until delivery.
I was amazed that the offical Porsche order site that the sales person used is so weak. Options must be manually written down on an order form and conflicts checked by eye. The fact that I could do my research from the info on this site made me better prepared than the sales staff in placing my order. Thanks again for this site.
It's interesting to read what cars Porsche considers 'competitors' to the Cayman.
305Z?? RX-8? Audi TT? C'mon who are they kidding - those cars are approx. half the price of a Cayman (if not less).
The Z06 and M3 I understand and maybe even the SLK, but the others ...
Because that is not what they said. They said that they are trying to attract people 'upgrading' from those cars meaning younger people that could only afford a $30-50K car, but have since had some financial success and now are looking for something more.
Pretty funny since I had a 350Z and my wife currently drives an Audi TT 3.2 DSG Roadster.
I sure hope that some of the option availability is for the build date and not the beginning order date, ie. sport shifter shows 12/05. Hopefully that will be when it becomes available as mine is supposed to be a Dec. build. Also, while reading through the files, it says there is an option for a tinted windshield. However I did not see anything listed in the options list. Anyone have more info about this??
I would tend to believe that the short shifter will be available to order on 12/05 or after.......so I would not expect any cars that are ordered from now until then will be able to get it. If you have a Dec. build you will probably still be out of luck.
I believe the tinted windshield is more for the Euro market......US spec cars already have this to same extent, so I don't think it will be available here.
