I think this has been answered before but if you want to put your wing up and keep it up isn't there some fuse or something you pull to keep it that way? I know I can manually put it up, but eventually it will auto back down and right now I can't have that as my Strosek wing will hit the body on the new M's GT3 rear bumper that has a bigger duck tail on it. I need to get a bigger spacer made to raise my wing up a little higher. We can get clearance but only with 3 threads engaged and I want more than that to support the wing so I need a bigger extension (how many guys admit to that? ) but in the mean time I need to keep the wing up, how do I do that?
The PIWIS disable will only disable the wing in the DOWN position, not UP. So pulling the motor relay may be the only way to do it, but I bet that produces an error of some sort, I'll try it out later to see. I merely need to get the car home for now and stick the factory wing (which will clear) back on until I get some longer extensions made for the Strosek wing.
BTW we cleared the last hurdle with the install of the front bumper, the info we've discovered will be valuable to others thinking about installing aftermarket front bumpers. I'll try to get it all summed up in the forthcoming article as soon as I can.
PIWIS - Porsche Integrated Workshop Information System
Porsche Integrated Workshop Information System (diagnostic tester) This device is used to test various aspects of your Cayman's computer and electronic systems. These units cost over $12,000 to purchase and are connected to Porsche via a wireless connection at the dealership so that your Cayman's information can be sent to Porsche whenever your car is attached for diagnosis. The PIWIS device has the ability to control almost any system in your car provided that your car has the appropriate control units and programming installed. Your dealership may not perform some activities such as disabling safety equipment.
If you just want to get it home can't you maually raise it? Won't it stay that way until you cut the engine? Or take the spoiler off and lay it in the hatch for this one journey.
What a day! What a day! First I read that there are imposters on the forum and then I find out that K-man S doesn’t know how to keep his wing up. What is the world coming to? Just kidding.
If you put the wing up with the switch what causes it to come back down . . . what sequence of events? I put the wing in the raised position when I clean the car and it does not go back down when I turn off the ignition. I have to push the switch to make it come back down. Of course I haven’t been driving down the road so maybe that’s the difference.
Raise the wing by pressing the switch inside. THEN, here's the tricky part, put a brick or piece of wood jammed up between it and the body. If it tries to go down it will only do it at the ends at least and then you can show everybody your new v-wing that was 'modelled' in an F1 wind tunnel. Btw - sorry to hear about the extension problem. 'Wingagra' - LOL!
You can always count on me for an 'out of the box(ster)' solution.
