Sport Chrono - Amazing

I'm still in my Croc break in period. But did not light (under 4200rpms) spirited driving today. I can not believe the responsiveness using SC . The change in throttle map was amazing. The lightest touch and Vroom, vroom .

The PASM, although not as dramatic,is noticable in its own way. I can feel the car kind of 'hunker down' (I know it doesn't). You feel a tightness settle in and then the curves come and go like butter.

The SC and PASM combo is the ticket!

Glad you are enjoying the Cayman. Don't worry too much about the break-in revs, I just kept from driving the same rpm's but drove the car pretty much like I intend to use it. Nothing really hard but not to soft either. And the best part is that you should be doing some longer drives during the break-in period. That is as good excuse as anyfor a few weekend road trips.

I agree SC and PASM are worth having - My car has both and I suspect both options will be in demand eventually. I dont beleivethat may carshave these two options on them which surprises me.

Just different people liking different aspects of the car.......after driving several versions with and without both SC & PASM.......I still prefer mine without. For me there was something artificial and even annoying about both andthey were more of a distraction than an attraction in my mind.

There are many cars that don't have these options simply because theyaren't needed to fully enjoy the Cayman......it's pretty hard core in standard form. I know quite a few buyers that have taken an SC/PASM equipped car for a test drive and then acar equipped with neither right after. Most come away amazed at how well the so called 'base' model really is and think twice about spending $3k for suchsubtle differences........some do, but many don't. As always, test drivinga few carswith different options is the way to go......nothing is mandatory on this car.

I think there will be many buyers for all versions of the Cayman in the future.....with and without these options.

PASM, Sports Chrono and other high tech features didn't exist beforeand Porsche was building fabulous cars. The Cayman is an amazing car in it's standards form. Some newer high tech features just take the envelope a little further to add performance improvements. It's like having a 100m runner that can't break the 9 sec mark and you give him some high tech pill to give him that minute boost of improved performance. The runner was not bad to begin with, in fact, he was great, but you gave him a small edge to make him perform better. The same happens with features such as PASM, SC, etc. The car wasn't bad to begin with, in fact, it was outstanding. But these features give it a smalledge of improved performance.

I love the SC and PASM. It makes a big difference for me and it takes your ride to the next level. I would strongly recommend these options for those who haven't orderedtheir car yet. It feels like a boost and more peppy than the standard mode. The handling also improves it is just more fun with these two options turned on.

Again, itshould be totally up to the individual whether these options are worth the money.

There have been quitea few auto journaliststhat have stated they would rather have the Cayman in standardnon-PASM form. One recent article even mentioned the test driver leaving a PASM car in 'normal' because it bounced around too much and took away from his ability to steer the car to its best performance.......I found this to be true on my test drives also. I'm also still waiting for dyno proof that SC does anything except mimic someone pressing on the throttle a little more.....I've driven several and that's exactly what it feels like......I can get the same feeling by being a little moreaggressive with the pedal.

The best optioned and highest performing Cayman will be the one that feels 'right' in the hands of the driver......neither PASMor SCare worthhaving unless the individual driverprefers the feel ofthe car with them, some will and some won't.IMO they don't automatically add an edge to the carwhatsoever and can even be a detriment to some. Transplanting a non-PASM/SC driver into a car equipped with these options will not by default produce a faster package.

Great reponse and feelings...as I've always said to each his(or her) own. No matter what options, color or driving preference we all purchased a 1st year Cayman.

Good luck to all and Happy Motoring

I love them both, they add a lot to my enjoyment of the car. I'vesaid before SC is the only 'must-have' option. Ilike SC for the extended PSM threshold mainly, but the throttle change is cool too. PASM is the best of both worlds, more comfortable and more sporty at the touch of a button.
