Sealed the deal today to trade in my 08 Corvette for a Cayman S. After driving an 07 Corvette for a year and trading it in for an 08 last year, I have gotten the Corvette out of my system. No doubt I will miss the amazing torque and power, but have determined that it is time to get a different type of sports car, and that power isn't everything. After all, how often did I truly use all 450HP? I purchased my Cayman S from Herb .....Porsche in Boston after someone on this forum recommended them for great prices, inventories, and service. I bought a Midnight Blue Metallic with Sand Beige Leather nicely equipped with 6 disc CD changer, power seats, bi-xenon headlamps, heated front seats, self dim mirrors, and bose high end sound package. I wish the car had automatic climate control, but I was set on getting this color combination as I plan to keep this car a long time. I am extremely excited to pick up this car hopefully next week. I live on Long Island and will look forward to driving my Corvette for one last road trip up, trade it in, and drive home with a big smile. I was an avid member on Corvette Forum throughout the years I drove Corvettes, and found it to be a wealth of information as it related to modifications, advice, service related issues and the list goes on. In the brief time I have spent on this Caymanclub.net, I can see that I will be in good company with the amount of expertise and experience you all have with what appears to be an amazing car that so many people are passionate about.
Corvette... that's a military small attack boat isn't it? Welcome to the Party!
BTW if you use the search tool you can find lots of past posts about vanity plates...
Welcome and congrats!! While you are waiting to pick up your car, take a look at the information guides and manuals in the Cayman Documents section under Files above. That will help you get by until your car is ready! Enjoy your drive home in the Cayman S.

Congratulations on your upcoming new ride. You'll find that this site is somewhat addicting. I find myself checking in several times a day. Remember to register your Cayman and we always like pictures. Again, welcome to the club!
Welcome- My 07 CS has the same option package as yours-Don't worry about the climate control. I drove a loaner the other day with the climate control and personally I dont think it is an issue. I ran through rain and some changing temperatures and personally I would prefer not to have it.You have all of the options that you need and a beautiful color combo. I considered a Vette myself but the IDIOTS at the dealer could not/would not arrange a test drive. After I have spent well into 6 figures over the years on Tahoes, Blazers, and SurburbansThen the last time I took my $54k Tahoe in for service I had to fight with then for a loanerWhen my lease is up I am done with GM for good. Is it any wonder that they are near bankruptcy?
Trust me- You will love your new car without a doubt. You will see a better group of people at the dealership and you will be treated much better. Please post some pics and let us know how you like your new toy. Now the torture starts- 4k rev limit during break in period
Ever since I decided to buy a Cayman I have been on this great website researching opinions, pricing information, and overall opinions regarding options ect....After reading so much, I feel as if I already know many of you based on the pictures (avatar) associated with each persons membership. I've seen that yellow Porsche on so many forums and offer so much great advice that I contemplating whether I should have got yellow!!! One question I have is that I am concerned about the all beige interior. On my Corvette, I had a two tone interior, which I was able to purchase customer floor mats in black to withstand the dirt and scuff marks that ultimately appear on beige floor mats. My question to you all is there a company or forum sponsor that specializes in floor mats that will match the color of my car so that there is a contrast and I do not have to worry about staining the floor mats.
I know exactly where you are coming from as I traded my C6 Corvette for a Cayman S as well. I have NO regrets, love the Cayman S! Enjoy your new toy, and congratulations. Agreed, Midnight Blue and Sand Beige is just and outstanding combo, very sharp.
As Technogeek suggested, I think you should download the manual and read it, personally I found it quite interesting! Oh, and congrats on your soon-to-be ride

A good car will get you from point A to point B. A great car... will just get you into trouble!
I considered a Vette myself but the IDIOTS at the dealer could not/would not arrange a test drive.
What's the deal with them? Really idiots I have to agree.
I test drove Lexus, BMW, Ferrari (used), Porsche, and then the Idiots at GM told me that they don't let people test drive the Vettes, and gave me a choice to drive a used one that was a couple years old, and looked pretty worn out. Sorry GM, but you guys have problems.... at Porsche and BMW the sales guy just tossed me the keys and didn't even ride with me. GM has some trust issues
My search has led me to believe that Cayman is the best car of the bunch. Enjoy your new car!

You can't test drive the car ?!?!?! How do they sell them ?
As someone who has bought my share of sports cars over the years, I prefer the car I buy to have as little mileage as possible, with the hopes that my prized posession was not used on test drives or abused by someone who does not respect a little thing called "break in period". So I can sympathize with the GM dealer for not wanting to allow someone to test drive someone elses future "prized possession", however they should be accommodating and let you test drive any used model they have available, as one could expect the same performance and driving pleasure, provided no major changes were made to a new years model. Having said that, while I was deciding which dealership to buy my Cayman S, I went to a local dealership on Long Island who was offering a new 07 Cayman S at a pretty good discount. After communicating with the internet sales manager over a weeks time, I stopped in to see the car and asked if it would be possible to test drive it. A simple "no" was given to me, to which I thought he was joking. But.....I can understand why. I will leave you with this. Having owned several Corvettes over the years, a Z06 Corvette is hailed as the ultimate car amongst die hard Corvette owners. While on the Corvette forum website last night, and member wrote a clip about how two days ago he was at a traffic light behind 2 new Corvette Z06's, driven by transporters. As the light turned green, these transporters smoked up the tires and screeched down the road until they came to the next light. The driver who was in the passenger seat got out and switched places with the driver, and they proceeded to do the same for about another mile or so. It's a shame that this occurs, as the owners of these cars will never know what there car was put through at a critical time when the vehicle should be broken in properly.
