Interesting...the timeline given infers that the facelift will only have a one year lifespan until the new model comes out...hard to believe.
The side vent(s?) have been totally opened up. I've been wondering how/if the Cayman is going to go with the 2 round aircleaners found on the 997.2, as opposed to a single flat element. I wish there was a picture of the passenger side.
Car has the GT2 sports buckets.
Thanks for the fix!
There are some interesting differences on that car. The rear spoiler appears to have variable incidence, rather than simply moving up and down. It looks like it lies flat on the tail when down, but has a significant angle of incidence change when it rises. The front spoiler is different, too. Also, the car has been significantly lowered. Not sure that will make it into production... Finally, it sure looks like it's been desnorked!!

I really like the look of the front spoiler.
If you look closely I don't believe that the rear spoiler goes up and down, this may just be a piece for testing. The base of it seems to be two pieces, one to fill the stock wing location, and the other base part seems to be affixed to the trunk lid. Also if you look at the second to last picture the wing seems to be too wide to sit between the wheel arches if flattened down.

You're right - good eye! Also, the brackets that hold the spoiler appear to be prototyped out of aluminum - they're not even painted. So this is clearly a test setup.
I don't undestand what makes the authors think this is an "RS" or that they will build an RS. It really just looks like a lowered CS with PCCB's and a different wing. Their timing seems a bit off too considering the facelift cars are being introduced next spring. Interesting to see it de-snorked. That leads me to believe there is a performance difference. As far as we know they could be testing a new lowered "M030" sport package with a new rear wing.
Now don't get me wrong, I would love to have a Cayman RS, but I just don't see them building it.

First off, this isn't a future Cayman, this is an existing Cayman S that has been modified. If Porsche were building an RS version it would be on the NEW body style not the outgoing existing body style. This appears to be nothing more than a standard Cayman S with some graphics, pccb's and an aftermarket front and rear spoiler that some enthusiast is driving out on the ring, the license plate isn't even a Porsche corporate plate...
Yes, but it has the telemetric antenna to send out data . Not too many enthusiasts go to that extent.
And the "aftermarket front spoiler" appears to be strikingly similar to the one that appears on the "2010 digital mock-up" car, but with an additional center piece. You can even see where they added tape to cover the joint.

I agree on all points from K-Man. This could just be an old picture of the testing of the CAYMAN S.
