Gas shortage plagues the Southeast
... a ... gasoline shortage that was expected to last only a few days is dragging into its third week, and experts say it could persist into mid-October. The Atlanta area has been hit particularly hard, along with Nashville and western North Carolina.

Hours-long lines, "No gas" signs and plastic bags covering fuel-pump nozzles are familiar sights around Atlanta, where drivers have become intimately familiar with fuel delivery schedules, rising before daybreak when they know gas is coming to a certain station.
"I was just in Atlanta yesterday. There is no gasoline in Atlanta, in Charlotte, in Chattanooga. It's like a Third World country," former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Sunday on ABC.

In Nashville currently there are 2 stations down the street from our hotel and both have gas and no lines. Sources in Atlanta say we should be fine ifyou arrive with plenty of gas in your car (gas up about an hour outside atlanta) and then we can do the same on the way out of town, or near Road Atlanta or near Kinetic. Also if you go in off-peak hours lines are shorter. Jim Ellis Porsche said a station down the street from them has been pretty good about having gas.

Just talked to my Sister and she was in Atlanta last week and said gas was an issue there and up into both South and North Carolina. My wife and I are headed to Atlanta for Croctoberfest and the races and then on to see our kids and Grandkids in Raleigh. What is the current gas situation in the Atlanta area and on up I 85 to Raleigh? Checked with my friendly dealer and he said running mid grade or even regular in the Cayman S would not be an issue but it does need gas.
Here in San Antonio gas has gone down since the storm and High test top three was only 3.54 yesterday. thanks Jack

And no problems with gas for us coming in, we filled up outside Chattanooga with premium (exit 127 on highway 24E) then when we got 45 miles outside Atlanta (exit 296 on Highway 75) we stopped and there were 5 stations, all had gas (no premium) and the longest line was 3 cars. We topped off and are at the hotel with virtually full tanks.

FYI, The Raleigh Durham area is hurting for premium gas and those folks out west of here are hurting for gasoline period. The Governer says all should be okay by Saturday but I'm not sure. I'll be out and about today in Raleigh so I'll let everyone now what I find.
Asheville is hurting but improving. Not much premium to be found. The reason I am posting is to say that I bit the bullet and fill the entire tank with 87 and a bottle of STP octane booster. I have been taking it easy on the engine....but so far she is purring like a kitten.
Obviously I want to get back on the good stuff ASAP.
