New Porsche badge.

I was looking at some 2009 911s. The changes are very subtle, but really make a diffesrence. The car looks much cleaner. Sleaker. However, one thing I did not like and frakly can't bleive that Porsche actually changed was the badge in the front hood. The badge is now filled in with clear acrylic. So insted of having the high releif texture, it is now smooth. Looks cheap in my opinion. I only noticed this change in the badge of the 911s. The 09 Caymans I saw all had the present badge. What was Porsche thinking?
One thing I didn't consider at the time was that the badge may have had a clear protective film over the acrylic so it would not be scratched. But still, I prefer the old badge.

Note that this isn't the first badge change. There was at least one other, as the early 911's had an orange, rather than red color.

I know about the previous badge change. But changing the color was very sutle compared to what they did to the badge now. Just wait till you see it.

I compared the two badges yesterday at the dealership. I don't have a problem with it myself--the quality looks the same to me--the badge is still in relief under the acrylic.

I also noticed that this isn't a change with the 2009 model year. I looked at 2008 Carreras and was able to find the older badge and the newer badge on different cars within that model year.

At least the new badge won't be a wax magnet...and I'm sure it's an aerodynamic improvement!

It does somehow look less expensive though.
