Yesterday we drove from Kansas City to Nashville on our way to Croctoberfest. I in the Cayman and my wife and kids in our Honda Odyssey minivan loaded to the brim with her luggage, oops our luggage, and various assorted items for the event. Oh yes, more in my car as well. We were about 30 miles outside of KC when our son got sick. Fortunately, we planned for this with his own personal collection bag and extra pj's.

A friendly highway patrolman pulled over to see if we needed help and when we told him what it was he decided to walk back to his car and wait it out there.
The rest of the way was uneventful. We stopped for lunch in Kingdom City and so the kids could stretch their legs and play at a McDonalds playland (although we ate elsewhere). We stopped at the OzarkLand store which if you've never been there you should go sometime. We picked up a couple of items for the kids and continued on our way for the next few hours until we stopped in Metropolis, Illinois. I've got a few photos to upload but the internet connection where we are at is really poor and I cannot get a photo to upload at the moment. After a few photos and a hearty meal at the local Quiznos we were on our way again.
I thought we were stopping in Paducah, KY, the halfway point to
Atlanta, but since the kids were being so good my wife wanted to push on so we went all the way through to Nashville (Goodlettsville actually) where we stopped for the night. No drama along the way which is good. I did see some deer off to the side of the road in northern Tennessee, but they stayed clear.
Gas mileage in the Cayman 25.5, gas mileage in the Ody - 23.9 which is darn good given how heavily loaded it is! In all I think we drove some 525 or 550 miles or so, I'll have to check when I get back to the car. We let the kids sleep in this morning and will be on our way to
Atlanta shortly. Currently, if we don't stop I'll arrive in
Atlanta with 40 miles remaining in gas so we are going to try to stop about an hour outside of
Atlanta to fill up and I'll report on the situation later today. Just down the street from our hotel here are 2 gas stations and both had gas last night and no lines so this part of Nashville doesn't seem to have a problem.
I know some of you are leaving today, so good luck on your trips to
Atlanta as well!
Ah got some photos up!
