New to Cayman...PASM+PCI+SPORT CHRONO

I'd mentioned earlier my considering sizing down from a CTT to a CaymanS. I was looking on lots nationwide for one equipped as noted above...what I cannot understand easily is how they all interact. I enjoy the PCI in my Cayenne so was leaning toward that. The sport chrono pkg I do not understand...does it enhance performance? Pasm sound s good. I modify th suspension on my Cayenne from time to time but notice a big difference when I have a loaner without it. Not sure what to expect with a Cayman suspension. I'd appreciate anyinfo/ opinions. Hope to drive one next week but no PASM's available to drive locally. Thanks much.

Sports chrono alters a number of settings quite dramatically and in my opinion makes the CS complete, and cannot understand how they can even offer it as an option and not standard.
The biggest items it alters are throttle response (exhaust note with that), reduces traction control interference and switches on PASM if you have it, but you can deactivate sports mode of PASM separately.

Suspension is quite often a personal choice I have found and what one thinks is too harsh another thinks fine. I drive with PASM in 'Normal' mode 99% of the time and only allow it into sport mode when the road is very smooth.......however it is what PASM is does in normal mode that makes it for me with the ride being comfortable on 19" rims when cruising and then tightening up for when I throw it into a corner. I've never driven a non-PASM car, but I know what I like and that is PASM.

Do a search on here and you'll find a lot of opinions on PASM. I think Gator Bite did a back to back comparison of standard vs PASM.

Thanks for your input. How is Sports Chrono accessed and does it have a display or some type of interaction with PCI? Another question is electric adjustable seats versus not. I'm 6'2" and always adjust my seat for longer drives...have not had a car without since 1997...any opinions? Thanks again...

I personally would not be able to drive the car comfortably here without PASM here in Puerto Rico. Note I have stiffer sway bars.

Sports Chrono function is available from aftermarket tuners like Softronics and others. It would be turned on permanently. I have the Sports Chrono and can turn it on and off with a button. I choose to turn it on all the time, even though I have to turn it on manually every time I turn on the car. The accelarator pedal sensitivity is increased with it on, once you get used to it, your muscle memory will have a hard time going back and forth, and be able to do heel and toe braking. It also alters the sensitivity of PSM so it comes in a little latter. It actually allows you to use it in the track. I do not turn off PSM at the track if it is raining. I can turn PSM at the track once I am used to the track and the tires are warm, but if you are driving smoth it will not interfere any way.

Hope the information helps you.

Do some searches, plenty of information here about all.

In short you don't need PASM/SC on a Cayman to have a very high performance Porsche sports car,.....it already is that. In track situations I've seen virtually no option stock Caymans easily keep up with and beat Caymans with SC, PASM, PCCB, etc. SC doesn't give you a faster car but there are 3rd party options for about the same price that will.

If you plan to modify your suspension, then PASM may be a waste of money. I have the standard suspension with 18"s and IMO is perfect, other opinions will differ.

My advice, if possible drive as many cars with and without these options and decide for yourself.

Sport Chrono is accessed by the "SPORT" button on the dash. When pressed, it automatically selects "PASM" to Sport mode, remaps the engine throttle to a more responsive throttle (less depression for throttle demand). It also modifies the RPM limiter to a more abrupt limit (activates at a higher RPM). And, it modifies the PSM to to allow more agressive maneuvering before PSM intervention (although I do not know the parameters that are "increased" or the extent of the "increase". In the computer Sport Chrono gives you a display that allows you to record lap times through the use of steering column paddle stalk.

Don't know how, but I managed to "send" before I was done.

When I was looking for my car, I drove a CS with and without PASM (both with 19" wheels) over a variety of road surfaces. I found the PASM (in Normal mode) equipped car to be smoother over rough surfaces and even moderate undulations than the non-equipped car. I think the mode should be called "Touring" because it is very well suited for the get-me-there drive with a nice level of ride comfort. Likewise, I found the PASM car (in Sport) to be stiffer with a noticeably higher frequency response than the non-equipped car. PASM will also adjust very quickly to the sport mode if you start thrashing the car around, so the bottom line is you have a car with a significantly higher dynamic range in terms of suspension adaptability with the PASM option.

I have found the throttle mode in "Sport" (
