Jackwood, I wasjust wondering if you're working on this project. Does it look like it can become a reality? If so, do you have a ballpark time estimate? Thanks!
Russ, I think that's the image that JackWood created for his other post on K-Mans intake thread. JW's probably wishing he never posted that digital illustration! Now everyone wants one ASAP!
Hi Guys
Yes I am in Vegas right now. My god, whatg a terrible place to have to go to work!!!!
I am not back in the UK until next ednesday, at which time I will be able to start work on this.
Like I said before, this is definately possible, but is not my job, or even something that I am ever going to be looking to make money on. It would just be a fun project for me to do.
The main problem, or hurdle, will be the tooling cost for the injection mold of the piece. Until I get a quote on that I will not be able to tell you if it is going to be viable for me to do.
There is no way I am going to drop a few thousand dollers of my own money into a mold for a part that I may only shift a few dozen of to members of Caymanclub. I would much rather I handed the finifhed project to someone like Booth Designs, who has a solid customer base and network of Porsche customers.
I guess that depending on the cost and how many people sign up, maybe we can swing the cost. Your idea of going through Ralph Boothesounds good too. I've personally bought a few things from him and he's always willing to help. Maybe he'll be interested. I assume that grill will fit the Boxster, increasing the customer base. Thanks!
I've done this mod, and my 'perhaps simplistic opinion' is:
Why bother making a complete separate piece with holes when you already have the piece without holes? A hell of a lot easier to simply DRILL holes in the deflector plate and simply reinstall the OEM piece.
I don't have a mesh in mine. I may drill the factory deflector plate but I'm still in the 'evaluation' mode...
One salesman at Princeton Porsche told me that a local tuner had a Cayman up to 330+ HP by removing the restrictor plate and some other exhaust mod, because our OEM exhaust is restricted from the factory. I asked whether removing the restrictor plate would affect anything and he said no. For whatever that's worth...

Devo, that sounds like a great idea. Personally, I like to have an approach that doesn't look too much like an after thought. I know most people won't even see that, but I will.
