View Poll Results: Please check off your Cayman options
Please select each option that you have on your Cayman as ordered from Porsche. We are interested in seeing how popular each option is among our members.
I want the PCCB's, but at $8150, not now. What I figure is that in 5-10 years they will really fall in price and there will be aftermarket PCCB kits so I'll pick up something later. I can save the weight elsewhere for less $$$...
The percentages in this poll would be more useful if calculated differently. I would want to see the percentage of respondents (& therefore cars) that will or would include each option. In other words, what percentage of respondents will have PASM versus what percentage will have full leather. Right now it just says how many times was PASM selected as a percentage of all the options picked. So, if 10 people responded and 2 picked PASM and no other options and 8 people picked no options, only 20% of the cars would have PASM, but this poll would say 100% next to PASM since the only options picked were PASM.
Make sense?
Just my opinion.
PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.

I concur, so please start another thread where people list out their builds as there is no way with the polling feature to capture each user's input individually.
It is interesting to see the options selected by different people. Some are totally sport minded and others are convenience and comfort minded. Personally I would not spend extra $$$$ on PSSM or sport chrono, but will spend extra $$$ on PCM module with navigation. I think everyone would love PCCB, but at 12% of the price of the car??? However it seems to be uniform that everyone found about 12K to 14K of options to put on this car.
Sport Chrono and Chrono Plus
This optional package is a valuable addition for trackday use. Available in conjunction with the CDR-24 CD radio, it includes a swivel-mounted analog and digital timer unit which is centrally located on the dashboard. All functions are easily accessible via the control stalk for the on-board computer. Analog dials measure hours, minutes and seconds, while a separate digital field displays whole seconds, tenths and one hundredths of a second. A second digital display runs in parallel in the instrument cluster. Click this Link to visit the FAQ entry for Sport Chrono.
The problem with ordering a car when it first comes out is that the options list is limited. Three years from now Porsche will provide the Cayman Club Sport for those that wantpure performance and the 2.8 liter Cayman for those that prefer lloks andcomfort over performance. Right now, Porsche is going to capitalize on the opportunity to sell all the comfort and performance options they can, in the Cayman S, until the initial demand is met.
Just Ordered mine on Tuesday. 45 years ago I wanted a Porsche and a real girlfriend. Well I got the girlfriend/wife, house, kids and all that good stuff. Now I finally get the Porsche. Having waited 45 years to get my Porsche I'm, obviously, of an age where 'civilized creature comforts' are important.Even 'civilized a Porsche is a Porsche is a Porsche.
