Some Advice Please??

Hi, Just found your site and enjoying it .

My problem is I am awaiting delivery of new Cayman S in Ireland for my Birthday nest week. Ordered car in October and to make it short , dealer (sole agent in Ireland) has f.... /made a mess of order!! I wanted Artic silever with some options! He is offerring following options

1.Black (Non-metallic) with sand beige interior, Man, Bi-xenon, heated seats, 19' Sports design wheel with coloured centres, Auto climate & rear park assist.

2.Midnight blue met with black interior, climate, bose, amd sports steering wheel.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the choices offered?? Dealer wishes to know by tomorrow.

P.S Irish cost would probably frighten you due to taxes!!

Welcome to the CaymanClub! This choice is something only you can really make because you have to live with the car. Do either of these cars truly appeal to you? You are going to spend a lot of money so you need to put aside the desire to have a car right away and ask yourself if you will be happy in 3,6, 12 months from now with either of these choices. Can you obtain enough discount to offset your lack of choices and the dealer mix-up? How long would you have to wait for another car? If you ordered in October and the only dealer in Ireland messed up to this extent after so long a time, perhaps you should look into buying a car elsewhere (?UK) if that's possible. Otherwise re-order the car you really want and wait it out.

I'm in the process of selecting color (and options) before placing an order. Color is IMHO a very important factor to consider well because you buy a Porsche and will have to live with your decision for some time. Having said this nothing (almost I guess) is irreversible. To respond to your question, black and blue are colors getting quickly dirty => spending time washing your car and the greys don't show the dirt so quickly. I am torn between a 'rich' dark color like basalt black, seal grey or lapis blue which 'dress' the car and between artic or GT grey which are trendy and show a lot of details of the body.

Hope you find an answer to your question and don't forget that patience is mother of all virtues.

Thanks DaveC

Both colours look great on car configurator! Interior might look bigger in beige me thinks?

Wait time on new order would be 20weeks and order books in UK very full. Many paying $10,000 over list for a car.

Cost in Ireland approx $135,000 with options running from $500 to $4000.

Welcome Daragh,

I love both of those color choices so I cannot be much help. Honestly the car is so incredible that you would not be disappointed with any color. I have Cobalt with Sand interior and I love it, so I guess I would lean toward the black with sand. You should go look at some of the photos of the sand beige interior.

Good Luck and do let us know what you choose.

Aloha Russ

Welcome Daragh.....

As others have stated this is a big decision and you don't want to get stuck with something you reallydidn't want......so think it over carefully.......

Between the two cars mentioned.........if it were me I'd go with the Black on Sand. It's a little better equipped and is a better color combo than Midnight on black IMO.

Let me chime in again and say that if you are definitely going to choose between the two, I would agree with Atlas Croc and go for the Black with Sand if only because the combo of midnight blue and black is rather severe. Black with Sand is a classic combination and the particular car seems to be reasonably well equipped.

I'd personally call Porsche of Ireland (headquarters) and complain. If that didn't work I'd try calling a number in Germany where they have english speaking representatives. You ordered a car a long time ago and it STILL hasn't gotten to you. Now you find out that the dealer ordered you the wrong car or wrong options. Make the dealer or Porsche fix it. That is unsat!

If you have to go with a color that was not your original choice make sure the dealer pays for your options on that particular car.
