cockpit heat?

The only worry that I have about the new Cayman is potential heat generated by the engine in the small interior. Any extra heat could be a problem where I live. Can we request that those who get to experience the Cayman in real time provide feedback?

My NSX had a similar engine location and horsepower output (from slightly less displacement). I never had any problems at all with cockpit heating. It's extremely unlikely that Porsche would risk this kind of negative get into the marketplace.

I gotta believe it's the same a Boxster,and Boxsterowners on this board report that it's not a problem.

Porsche would have had to put some heat proof material between the engine and the trunk. In my Boxster S, the rear trunk is where you would put your take away pizza as it get rather warm in there. THere is no way that the Cayman S would have the same configuration back there.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Coincidently, I received my November issue of Automobile magazine today. This quote is bit off-putting if true “It’s warm work, though, as the engine behind you heats up the cabin noticeably”.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">My poor experience with some of the early ‘70’s 911’s poor air conditioning is not something I want to repeat. Hopefully this will not be an issue. Perhaps our friend in Ibiza can report back?

My dealer just got back from Ibiza. He didn't notice any engine heat in the cockpit. He said the other driver in the car was 6'4' and had the seat all the way back to the bulkhead and never complained of heat either. Is it possible the magazines got earlier pre-production cars and the ones in Spain have addressed the issue?
