Trading in a Cayman S for a 997S

Not me!!! But, I was told that someone traded in their Cayman S, with about 1,000 miles to obtain a 997 S. The reason - the 997S seats are a little wider, so the car is more comfortable.

That's the reason to have adaptive sport seats. The $3K is a savings over being uncomfortable in the stock seats to the point that you throw another $25K down on a 997 S.

Un ******** believable!!

Seats wider? More comfortable? That sounds odd. I couldn't notice a difference between my 997 and when I tested the Cayman. Cabin width maybe by a minute margin, but certainly not the seats.

Funny, I'm just the other way around, I'm trying to get outta my 997 and into a Cayman! Anyone wanna trade?

A straight trade? Are you sure? What color combo and options do you have on your 997? mileage?

I was under the impression that the seats were the same?

There is certainly more leg room in a 997.

Seats are the same but there is more leg room in 997 and more space to either side of the seat, but not a lot more. Sounds like someone simply couldn't handle the sportiness of the Cayman S!

It feels more luxurious in the 997... more leg room, more space (more moveabiliity with the seats) and a bigger feeling, reminds me of being in the LX470. Sure, people who are more clausophobic shouldn't get the CS and go for the 997- for me, I like the snug, slightly cramped feeling you get in the CS opposed to the 997. The 997 interior just feels just too big. the CS just feels like an extension of your arms...

I prefer the tight and connected confines of the Cayman over the roomier and larger 997.

umm...the Carrera feels like a Lexus LX470?? that is going a bit far..but for sure the cockpit does feel a tad roomier. i was pretty sure the seats were the same though--just more travel and an inch or so more elbow room in the carerra. Note, though, that the head room in the Cayman is luxurious! I am tall in the torso and love that..that's why i could never get a Boxster-my head always hit the roof with the top up.

No question in my mind that the Carerra feels a bit more luxurious and roomier all around. that's what you get in exchange for less cargo space (did I mention that the Cayman is my preferred grocery run transport now?) and $15k or so.

Hi guys, have just joined from Australia and wanted to let you know. Have ordered a Cayman which is due to arrive next month to join our 996 cab (04) and Boxster S (00) - all silver!

My Cayman has been ordered with 19 inch wheels, sports seats, PASM and minor other options.

Congratulations on a terrific forum. My son is 16 and tracks the Boxster as it is possible to obtain a related motorsport licence here at 14! We will enjoy this site..

Best wishes

People trade cars all the time for all sorts of reasons. They trade up, down, and sometimes out. I don't think there is any generalizable statement to make from a a guy who trades his Cayman for a 997.

How about the sound effects inside the cabin? Can't beat the sound effects of the Cayman. It's like driving with a headphoneon the 997S.
