Each dealer in North America was invited to this wave of the Cayman S dealer reveal. Not each and every dealer attended though. Porsche chartered the Seven Seas Voyager for the event, a all suite luxury cruise liner. The event was first class all the way!
Of the North American attendees, 86% of all Porsche's sold worldwide were represented by this group. So, needless to say, the big dealers were all present. This was a 'dealer' trip, so most participants owned the stores as compared to the sales training event which will begin next month in
Atlanta and California.
The highlight of the entire event was the lauch night of the Cayman S. While having dinner we departed Mallorca and headed towards the nearby island of Ibiza. Dinner was fantastic, followed by a Porsche Design Drivers Selection fashion show. This was great, seeing young good looking people wearing the newest styles from Porsche Design. The show included dancing, acrobatics; a very well rehersed event. Upon the conclusion of the fashion show our attention was diverted to the best fireworks show I've seen in my life. While everyone was admiring the models, the fireworks were a sign we were approaching the coast of Ibiza. This event was beginning to take on a very special feel...what was next? As we approached the fireworks it was apparent that they were being lit near an ancient fortress. What a sight! The sky was lit up with a fireworks show that would rival any metropolitian celebration on the 4th of July. Next, we were directed to give our attention to the opposite side of the ship. As everyone rushed to the other side we were treated to something very special. A huge stage had been set up w/ 3 very large projection screens, live music and room to park cars on. Everyone had expected seeing the Cayman S the next morning, but now it was obvious the car would be presented at this show. As anticipation grew, the cars approached the stage and drove upon it...WOAH, the cars looked gorgeous. This was the absolute highlight of the event...the moment everyone had been waiting for. Let me tell you that I've been to a few mfg. releases of new models, and not one compares to what I was experiencing. The lights, the music, and the cars! But wait we were getting closer and closer to them...would we be able to see them up close. YES! It was announced that we were invited to come down to the 4th level of the ship to sit in and feel the Cayman up close. Wow, what a surprise.
The remaining 24 hours proved to bethe best driving experience I've had. We were able to drive the cars on breathtaking roads at speeds that seemed unimaginable. What a great car, you are all going to love this automobile! If you like it now, wait until you see it in person and have the opportunity to be beind the wheel. Thank you Porsche for producing this car.
