I have read various reports/comments about this car's market acceptance. Some suggest that it is selling brilliantly whilst others imply that the sales figures are below budget. I am surprised that some buyers are aparently still able to negotiate discounts off list price in Nth America. I suspect that this has not happened yet in Australia.
Sales in the U.S. are very strong, and above Porsche initial projections at this time. That being said, Porsche is making a lot of these cars, and we are nearing the end of the model year, so deals can be found, also the market for sports cars in general has softened in the last year.

Interesting - is a facelift expected or more significant changes?
Just my luck - I'm still waiting for my first Cayman! (3 weeks to go from today!)
btw congratulations on such a first-rate forum - this is simply brilliantly put together.
Thanks for the kudos. No details on the 07 Caymans at this time although I suspect only minor changes, it will be a few years before a facelift, it is simply a matter of fact that Porsche dealers get incentives to move cars before the end of a model run so they aren't sitting around when the new 07 models arrive, this is true for all Porsche models, not just the Cayman S. I once got a terrific deal on a 2003 C4S in June of 2003, the dealer threw in additional discounts to get me to take delivery before July 1. I didn't complain.

Yes - that seems to happen here although not on Caymans.
I bought an ex-stock new 04 carrera cab tip at a $20k Aust discount - it still cost $220k .Our exchange rate is approx 77 cents with the US$ therefore our cars are considerably more expensive here. I believe that my Cayman cost approx $180k Aust which is $140k US for example. You guys are lucky.
I ordered in December and currently looking like a June build, I guess it's dealer allocation dependant here as some seem to get quicker or go with ex-demo cars. The wait is a living hell
Each country has a different market and you'd be very lucky to get a discount in the UK, I've seen some used Caymans with around 3-4k miles on the clock going for about £2-3k less than list which isn't bad on residuals. I guessthat may indicate that the waiting list is still getting longer.
You don't need me to tell you that your car is worth waiting for...
they count a car as sold when the vin is sent into pcna on a sales sheet. so you don't have to have picked up the car but you have to have signed a purchase agreement (not merely ordered a car).
