Rear Wiper?

i think i know what you will all say, but is anyone considering this? its probably a practical option however i see no pics, except for a SY cayman, that have this wiper. just wondering if you guys think it detracts from the lines too much! ps: anyone have an opinion on the Ext Alum Look pkg?

I know some like a rear wiper.........but I think it looks very bad on the Cayman, really breaks the smoothness of the car up.

I'm not a big fan on the Ext Alum Look pkg........I don't like a lot things thatstand out against a nice paint color........one of the things I like about the Cayman over the Boxster is that the side vents are body colored. But this is all personal taste only.

Not only is the wiper unsightly against the window, but it protrudes from the rear hatch that almost makes it look aftermarket. I have never been a fan of the rear window wiper, but that is just my opinion.

thanks, i know it looks a bit better w/o it, but for a car that you drive a lot around town its prob necessary..many of the pics of 911's etc all have them, so i imagine they would say its a good thing? with the boxster it was just never an issue. anyone regret not getting a wiper with their hatches?

ps: still debating on the ext alum pkg! :-)

I've driven a2000 TT Coupe for 85K mi which has a similar sloping rear window. Never had a need for it. However, your location may be a factor. If I were in an area where snow/ice were common, I might consider it...

I had a 911 C4S without the rear wiper and I drove it in the ice and snow and rain and never felt like I needed it... oh and I think they are ugly too!

I had that ugly rear wiper on my 996. You never even need it in the rain. Looks much better without IMHO

If visibility is a concern, one option would be to apply a product similar to Rain-X to the hatch glass. I'm using a spray on product and it seems to do the job beading up rain drops.

You just have to keep refreshing the application once in a while to keep it working well. I do it everytime I wax the car.
