Hi, I searched around the forums and I couldn't find any information about when to optimally shift when trying to drive 'normally' on street roads. I've seen the standard torque, rpm, power charts in posted in the forums as well as in the back of the owner's manual. I assume those charts show the proper power bands when trying to get from 0-60 in the stated 5.1 seconds.
jesus why do you shift at such a low rpm?!?!! i wouldn't shift at less than 3000 under normal circumstances. at those engine speeds you are lugging your engine.
I like to keep my car in the 4000 RPM range. That 12 oclock 4000 RPM seems just right. even driving around town. Only on the road in a relaxed drive do I keep it at 3000 RPM. The car loves to be up in that 4000 range or above. The only posible exception is first that climbs to 5000RPM to quickly, but I don't mind it.
`I find that I am shifting between 3500 & 4500 for the most part. Sometimes I will go 6k 1-3 around town. When getting on freeway it is 5-6k until I'm up with traffic...
I am still only at 1000 miles and have been changing in the 3000 - 4000 range the whole time. I can't imagine changing much below 3000 revs. Can't wait to be changing at the 5000 to 6000 range.
I have been wondering what "qualifies" as lugging - 2000 in 5th or 6th, 1500 in 4th???
The best torque and the best sounds are 2500 and higher. Remember the right pedal is the Volume Control. Time to let the Cayman Symphony Orchestra play some sweet music in the back seat.
